Had the pleasure of meeting Gordon a few years ago, he turned on the Christmas Lights in Stone, as he did a meet and greet my Daughter asked me who he was, I told her he is one of the greatest players ever to play for Stoke, he heard me, stopped , came back and shook my hand, now, I am a fairly big guy, but bloody hell, his hands were twice the size of mine, so there is no way he will drop any balls... Are you going with him...

Must admit when I saw the thread I thought it was about celebrity vandal Banksy doing some graffiti. And me - I was wondering what the mural would look like! Would Blatter be along on the first night with a chisel to hack it off the building and flog it?

I've also had the pleasure of meeting your dad. I'm sure you hear this all the time, but what a lovely chap he is, a true gentleman and legend.

I saw Mr Banks walking through Newcastle this lunch time. He was looking a little frail. As with Stanley Matthews a number of years ago, it always amazes me that I’m walking the same pavements as one of England’s greatest footballer.

Literally as I posted that I saw a rehearsal on the BBC and there was the Great Man on the stage amongst a few other well known stars from the past.

He’s sat next to Laurent Blanc he’s not managing anyone at the moment, any chance of him replacing Hughes?

What a man. Legend (and a proper one at that).
The world's greatest ever goalkeeper does the world cup draw in his stoke city tie.
There are no words to describe the man's greatness.

Once a legend, always a legend. Gordon, you rock! 100% correct my friend,my all time hero is Banksy. On a similar note, was talking to some Scandanavian Stokies in The Gardeners Retreat before the Liverpool game and they said our Gordon was the reason they started supporting Stoke in the 70's.

Makes you proud doesn't it !! Certainly does, bud. I am exiled in Yorkshire and tell everyone who knows I support Stoke that he is president of our club. That impresses everyone.

Brought a little tear to my eye did that. What a great man. He's the reason I started supporting Stoke as a 9 year old. I just wanted to be Gordon Banks. On a side note who is that giant woman standing next to him in that photo? Another example of Russian drug misuse?

Where can I get one of those ties?
I've looked on the Stoke web site and can't see them for sale.

Yes Bagwash...Gordon was a legend in Norway, and even here in Thailand we have met more than a few Norwegian fans who cite Gordon as the reason they support our club.

Are you going with him... Not sure about his hands being big...but his head looks tiny! ....that’s just the camera angle ... His hands have been compared to saucepan lids And and shovels ... ...I was going to go ...but it would have meant missing the match on Wednesday...and that wasn’t happening .. So I sent my son Dan to keep an eye on him....I’m picking them up tomorrow..and if it all goes to plan ...we should even make the game ! As for the Stoke Tie ...he was under strict instructions not to wear any floral numbers or 80’s ties he has lurking in his wardrobe...so he pulled out the scfc one and got the Thumbs up ...very proud of him and I know he was honoured to be asked to take part ...goarrrrn dad!
