You last sentence is probably correct and why. If he wasn't under pressure every time we even lose a throw in, he would have probably gambled a bit more for the win. If he had last night and lost it 3-2 to a late goal, all the wazzacks on here would be saying 'you daft bugger, a point away from home is a good one, why didn't you protect what we had while trying to pick of a winner ourselves which is what we did'. This is absolutely spot on. If we'd gone for the win last night, I have no doubt that we would have conceded and lost 3-2. Hughes cannot win - if we'd tried to win but lost the game people would be wanting him sacked - we got a point and still people are moaning. Well if he'd have made some more subs and gone for it, we might have won 3-2. If we're going to accept that we're more likely to lose while we try to win, and thus we should just draw every game, we may as well not bother.

5 points and 5 goals from the last three games (two away from home) would suggest he is not timid. Somebody is making stuff up to suit an agenda. OS. If you're watching the games and don't think he's being timid I don't suppose you ever will, one of our forward 3 is playing left fucking wingback for gods sake. If you think of our recent record away and how piss poor it has been he seems to be trying to stop the rot . I went to Watford and thought we were ultra defensive but scored off a set play . Watched it on TV last night and thought first half we played a lot more than at Watford which was encouraging but felt we dropped badly off in the second half . He has also had them working a lot more on set plays which has to be a good thing , we are starting to look dangerous again but its very conservative football no doubt designed like many other teams to grind out the points required to stay in the league , considering we have been up for almost a decade we ought to be way better than a team like Brighton but we aint. Again to be fair thats the same for most of the league which apart from the top 6 is pretty toss in terms of standard again this season .

Come on though OS, he did settle for 2-2 with a third of the game still to play (and them there for the taking) didn't he? Granty was wasting time on 60 mins and Les even said he brought Shaq off because he wanted to "slow things down". It felt pretty timid to me.

Settling for a draw away at Brighton (a newly promoted side let's not forget) when we led twice is silly.

Last night, at 2-2 Hughes was too scared to lose to dare to win. Anyone who doesn't see that, I suggest you take your red and white tinted specs off. This was against a mediocre BHA, a newly promoted team, with a creaky defence which could not defend crosses.

You can dislike both Pulis and Hughes, you know - the two are not mutually exclusive! It is this version of Hughes with which I take issue - he has regressed into a cautious coach trying to defend his position and keep his job, hoping to scrape enough points to survive.

Of course you can but in OS' case and a lot more beside they're clinging on to Hughes because he's like some beacon of shining anti TPery. And there's way too much of that about, people who aren't applying the standards they set with TP on Hughes. This last 2 years has been pretty much taken us back to where TP left us and you have people who so vehemently wanted him gone (I was one) defending Hughes. It's hilarious. He's become what they hated so much but can't see it.

Don't know about now...when we were two nil up at half time against Leicester.and them having gone down to ten men.we came out and tried to see the game out and instead going out to get more goals we sat back and let them back into the game...resulting in a 2-2 draw...for me that was a sackable offence right there !!

For the entire second half we sat deep in our own half whenever they had the ball. 3 times in the first half we put pressure on them, they lost the ball and we nearly come close to scoring all 3 times, through pressure, no rocket science. What baffles me is Brighton are fucking dreadful. Scored 2 goals from our piss poor defending. They have 2 pacey wingers which diouf / ramadan should keep up with if tracking back and its panic over. Why on earth we had put 11 men behind the ball tonight, was for me, absolutely embarrassing. Fucking dreadful yet above us in the league.

Hughes has become Pulis. That's the issue, and it certainly won't be remedied by reappointing his predecessor.

Rafa may be available soon....... He won't come here. He'd want a sizeable warchest, rather than penny-pinching and 'being cute'.

If Hughes adopted a conservative approach at least that would be a discernable plan, I would be ok with that. But there isn't any sort of plan, I can't work out what we are trying to do. We look wide open in defence. Brighton were awful but went through us so easily
