Sad is might be So many don’t want it. But Crouchy is still the biggest goal threat we have ( by a country mile). He just as to start. For me with Bera. Give them a run of four games.

But he is more effective as a sub.

He's a good player is Crouch. our biggest issue is we are playing Moting up top and he's not a striker, more a inside forward and he doesn't want to get in the box enough, neither does shaqiri or ramadan. It doesn't help with him being isolated either. We need to play Diouf up top, he does the lot.

Agree 100%, him and Berahino, what’s happened to us having a real go for 20 mins and getting the away team under pressure and getting in front.

Crouch wouldn't be as effective if he started. He scares defences when he comes on because they have to completely change their thinking.

Glenn Murray scored the winner again for Brighton today .
Like crouch is hardly the quickest, but he knows what is doing
There is a lot to be said for knowing what you are doing
Put it this way , you wouldn't want to spend ninety mins watching berahino making it up as he goes along .

I said pre season crouch would be our 1 st choice striker . It's only his age that counts against him . He's an England striker after all with a great goals per game ratio

He's never really been prolific throughout his career as a whole so I take it you're going to isolate a tiny proportion to back up your statement.

I think it would be a good punt against Brighton who will not have played against his like often before.
Against Palace I'm not so sure.
Would like to see Crouch and Berahino together.

His goals per minute ratio would slump drastically if he played the full 90, keep him as supersub!

A team just up from the Championship who play with a targrtman won't have played against a player like Crouch before? What am I missing?

He's much more effective as a sub IMO. And our reliance on him shows that we desperately need a new starting striker that has all of his qualities and isn't 36.

I can only justify starting Crouch if he has some pace alongside him, otherwise teams can start with a high line with no threat of anyone getting in behind.

We need a centre forward, if he is the only one we've got, then yes. If Barahino is ever to score it will be in tandem with a proper striker. Also Moting looked much better out on the left, he's not a striker. It keeps coming back to the crap transfer window. Everton's demise is pretty much down to the same issues.

No. 20-30 minutes is plenty. He's doing great as a sub and is usually an ineffective starter.

I really wish we had gone for Slimani. We need a striker with physical presence and pace. Of course you could argue that we have one already.....

Crouch's hold up play is the best in the league, Bera should be pouncing on the second ball around the edge of the box, which I believe is his strength. Should we start him - well I dont think he is worth 90 mins.so we need a Plan B player to take over at 70 mins, and this all depends on a players who can cross a ball into the box to cause havoc from the start! At the moment, - impact sub, and a bloody good one.

( other than being a more experienced player now)

No he is better coming off the bench and using his skill when the defence has been pulled to pieces

In a front two at home fine away from home as a lone striker no chance.

Why not? He is still in good shape, his game isn’t based on stamina anyway. I’d rather have him start and increase our chances of being 1 or 2 ahead and sub him out after 60 minutes than the other way around. I’d switch to 4-4-2 and play him up front with Berahino.
