Does Liam Lawrence still have anything to do with Shrewsbury? Think he was dogged by injury. Fully retired now. Still living in the area however.

I don't know whether the Shrewsbury manager is the right one, but this is exactly the sort of place we should be looking for our next manager. Its exactly the place we should not be looking for our next manager, It really is wishful thinking to suppose being good in the lower British leagues equips you to compete in the Premier League - the gap is massive. And the we have to give up and coming British managers a go argument is basically gambling a clubs future on nothing more than a punt in the dark. When the time comes we should be looking abroad for our next manager. The standard is miles (kilometers?) higher.

The chances of big headed premier league players following the plans of a lower league manager are low. This is because their egos wouldn't accept someone they'd see as beneath them.

Unfortunately I think that would be part of problem. The player's egos shouldn't be the reason not to employ a lower league manager (players like that need sorting out). However if the players don't respect the manager because their inexperience and limitation come though their position would be untenable, The best players want to work with the best managers - and if the manager isn't up to it their times up.
