Affelay has to start. Alongside Fletcher in the following formation Butland Edwards Shawcross Zouma Erik Affelay Fletcher Allen Jese Diouf Choupo-Moting. Watford play best on the counter attack, hence the good performances away from home. Only beaten Arsenal at home, thanks to a dive for a pen but oh well its Arsenal. We should sit in first half, let them have the ball and they wont do anything, they wont break us down. Then use the three in midfield to win the ball back and break with the pace of Diouf supported by the quality of Jese and Choupo. We must set up to not concede, if we go one down their fast, strong players like Richarlison, Gray, Deeney, Carillo etc will pick us up on the break and it will be another 4-2. We'll beat these IF the tactics are right. why does Affelay have to start, why not Cameron for his strength and energy? Why not move Zouma into CM and have Indi/Ryan back together in a 2

From the Guardian - apologies if posted elsewhere:
7) Watford look too strong for drifting Stoke
Stoke are in trouble. They have a mishmash squad with a few obvious holes that do not seem been filled by recent signings. Jesé Rodriguez has gone off the boil since his spectacular debut against Arsenal, Kevin Wimmer was left on the bench during last week’s home defeat by Bournemouth, and the striker whom Mark Hughes chased for ages, Saido Berahino, has still not scored since joining in January. The upshot is that Stoke are inconsistent, often even flaky. Which is an intolerable state of affairs. Many tipsters suggested that Watford would be in a similar pickle this season but instead Marco Silva has forged a slick, powerful and spirited unit that look likely to continue their rise by beating Hughes’ side on Saturday. Hughes spouting more bullshit, we’ve had a decent start, away form not a concern etc... cmon Sparky we’ve been shit for over a year now! Anyway my team... we have no wing backs so a back 4 for me
Butland Cameron Zouma Shawcross Pieters Allen Fletcher Choupo Shaq Jesse Diouf

Hughes is right to a point in that we did have a decent start.
That feels a long time ago now though. You can't really keep playing that card when you've lost four of your last five and conceded 15 goals in the process.

Anyway my team... we have no wing backs so a back 4 for me Butland Cameron Zouma Shawcross Pieters Allen Fletcher Choupo Shaq Jesse Diouf This would be my exact XI, because if we do have to adapt our shape based on how Watford are setup we could easily switch to: Butland Zouma Shawcross Cameron Diouf Fletcher Allen Pieters Shaqiri Choupo Jese

why does Affelay have to start, why not Cameron for his strength and energy? Because Affelay can pass a football. perhaps we will need somebody to get the ball off them first ? Do you think Affelay is ready for a fast paced defensive away game against Watford, he's hardly played for 9 months?

Do you think Affelay is ready for a fast paced defensive away game against Watford, he's hardly played for 9 months? It won't be a fast paced game if we've got our tactics right. We sit in with 2 defensive lines and let them have the ball, they're not a footballing side, they're a counter attacking side who won't have the quality to break us down. If we go out and chase the ball high up the pitch, we will get picked off by their pacey counter attacks. They are effective away from home because teams come on to them, Brighton got a point there with 10 men because Watford couldnt break them down. Frustrate them for 60 mins then pinch a goal. if we go 1 down there is no chance of picking up a result here.

-------- Butland ---------- Geoff ShawX Zouma Pieters -----Allen - Fletcher ----- Shaq ----------------- Jese ----- Choupo -- Diouf -----
Essentially a 442
Shaq has to be on the right, where he causes untold damage to any defence, by stretching them with pace and trickery. He's far more effective here, than in the middle Jese on the left i hear you proclaim? Yeah, well i think Sobhi isn't up to speed yet, and watching Jese in the last few matches, he really likes to cut in from that side, so for me, tomorrows game would be an option to see him there. I think he'd lnk up well with the 2 other forwards.
All out attack, quick balls into the box for 2 players to run onto.
Second half, it would be nice to see an Ngoy or Verlinden make an appearance ( i know its unlikely) No saido or Adam for me

This is our best side...or should be, although an extra midfielder at the expense of Jese may be an option away from home. I wouldn't play Edwards though. However, with Bruno out, Ryan needs to step up to the plate as Captain and give us a performance he's more than capable of.

If Shaqiri is fit (& it seems he is) then Choops should get the chop for me.
