Would you take him?
He would sure things up and make us solid... but then we would lose the flair players and struggle to attract decent talent.
I personally prefer the odd flair player and the idd exciting game.

I don't think we pay that much manager wise though?

Only for the rest of the season to steady the ship, with him handing the reins to a more progressive appointment in the summer.
Things need changing, I'm bored shitless.

He is the only choice to have the feintest chance of keeping this shambles in this league but won't stand for we know you wanted X but we've found Y who was good once but has a minor career ending injury three failed moves , never played in the premier league but will come on a free

I think he would only unretire if he got an offer from a big club. Stoke's manager pay is among the lowest in the league. I think it was 3rd lowest last year.

Okocha, Nakata, Zaha, Djorkaeff He brought some great players to Bolton and Newcastle , not mentioned so far include Anelka, Djorkaeff & Beye. All better than anyone Hughes has signed. To the OP - it's Allardyce.

If Hughes gets the bullet then Allardyce is nailed on to be Coates' top target, he fits the profile of a Coates appointment perfectly, who else is there ? I wouldn't be against the idea, i think he would suit the club and the players seamlessly.
Another 2-3 bad results and i think Coates will start to get a twitchy trigger finger.

Coates will more than likely go for a currently out of work British manager who will be cheap(ish). Worryingly it reeks of a Pardew or Moyes type appointment rather than Big Sam.

Allardyce / Sammy Lee double act. Fucking great. What's the point you're attempting to make ... you'd like Allardyce without Lee or you'd like Lee without Allardyce, or you'd like neither under any circumstances?

Oh good to see were not the only desperate club. BTW how crap is premier league football. It was so much more exciting 10 years ago. # bored of this big time crap

There's no way he will go back to West Ham. Think the other two think they are too good for him.

Allardyce is not interested in club management, apparently. He wants an international management job - Ireland or Wales perhaps.
Next....

Cant have him anyway we have to stick to people with short names , Pulis Hughes, otherwise some of our fans wont be able to spell his name when they want him sacked!!!!

Allardyce Pearson Pardew Quique Sanchez Flores Di Francesco Michael Laudrup
All are better options than the clueless fit we have at the moment

I think it's 99.9% sure that he'd be Coates' No.1 choice by a mile.
Not convinced that at 63, he'd dive back into yet another slog at an unglamorous, bottom-half club.
He's done that, got the t-shirt and has enough millions banked not to bother.

Walter Mazzarri, although there's more chance of him sticking with Hughes whilst he takes us to the Champonship, than him going for a foreigner

Whoever it may be, I would say hughes will last another 3 or 4 games. Meaning that a new manager will have a January window to shop in.
