I didn't think that it was very nice to hear the cheering when he went off. It was as loud as if we had scored a goal. I doubt he'd under any illusion regarding the fact that he's now well past his best and not really up to the standard any more, but I imagine that it still stung quite a bit. Maybe I'm just being soft, but I thought it was a bit unnecessary.

He could easily have played Cameron at RWB, who at least has an engine (in fact, it's probably his best attribute) The one game where Geoff played rwb he was pretty useless. All our players who have been played as RWB have been pretty useless for the very simple reason that the clueless git in charge and the penny pinchers who own the club did not buy a proper RWB in the summer window !!

And which genius gave the useless twat a contract extension and failed to address the long-running full back issue?
Still, mistakes on the pitch aren't Hughes' fault right?

Hughes originally wanted Cedric Soares for 6M. He ended up with Johnson on a free. Question to the recruitment team. Where and who was the middle ground option?

Agree it wasn't very nice but it had to be done to make that fucking mule of a manager understand what we can all see to be true that Johnson is bereft of the endeavour, skills and commitment he once had (mainly at Liverpool) and should never be playing for us again. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt and blame it on his injury but I always felt he was never quite 100% up,for it........just a payday and again I don't blame him for taking it - it's our inept club management that keep encouraging it.....

He was poor but to cheer a Stoke player being subbed was utter wank and rancid of the highest order You know who you are 18 months of frustration does that. It's thick fuckers that do that

Wing backs have to be the fittest players on the pitch
That's why it makes Diouf look so good in that position.
And that's also why it makes Johnson look like a Sunday league footballer
I don't want to mention Pieters cause I won't stop. He's just as fucking bad

I don't feel sorry for him because if he was a horse he'd have been shot dead by now. The bloke needs releasing, sod waiting until January to try and flog him for a few pennies. Saying that, I didn't cheer him going off and don't think it was right.

Johnson hung out to dry? The whole team are hung out to dry by an inept and incompetent manager - same as last week, don’t care what the next results are, Hughes has to go before it’s too late.

Definitely don't agree with booing or jeering our own players.

I really don't think Johnson was that bad yesterday. Pieters, zouma and Fletcher were far worse.
The reaction to his substitution was appalling particularly as the vast majority of the same people afforded a standing ovation to begovic. Wankers to a man!

He's done it twice now ....he did it at qpr when he signed Jose boswinga Boswinga was fantastic for Chelsea , one of their best full backs ever and that's saying something Hughes signed him for qpr knowing he was past it , couldn't be arsed anymore and was there purely for the cash , to make another million before hanging his boots up and the qpr fans literally hated him for that For Jose boswinga 2017 read Glenn Johnston

I don't dispute that he is well past his best. His style relied heavily on him being fitter than he is these days. But he did play very well for us for half a season prior to injury two years back.
Some people have very selective memories if it gives another arrow to shoot at the manager.

Half a season two years ago , we should be eternally grateful that he opted to accept an extended contract two years later.

He is the only right back in the squad. Let that sink in for a second. Every Stoke fan realised it was a number one priority in the summer and we didn't address it. The fact that Diouf has played there ahead of him says it all.

Johnson needs to hang up his boots, surely this will be his last season at this level? Yeah, he might sack it in. His fall from this level has been staggering.

The fact that Diouf has played there ahead of him says it all. Spot on!! I agree Johnson should not be still here, he should not have had any contract extension, even though he was given one he should be no where near the first team, our best RB is a fucking forward who on his own admission hates to play that position, a forward who actually scores goals who was dropped for basket case Berahino, another circus of a player that disrespected his previous club and is failing miserably playing with players that this board said he would shine with rather than the negative WBA players/tactics. So...who is the problem, still thinking its Glenn Johnson are we. Im 52 and never have I been anywhere near good enough to play the sport that I love at any level, but if MH had rang me Friday night and asked me to play Saturday I would have been there, but we expect Johnson a pro footballer to say no. Its certainly not his fault that we felt the need to bring on a 37 yr old forward to yet agian try and save the day against a shit time wasting throw yourself to the ground Bournemouth yet sections of the crowd decided it would be good to boo him A round of "hughsey Hughsey sort it out" would possibly have done a lot more to show the discontent and where it lies

Some of the comments on here are baffling. Yes he isn’t playing the best, but he is a Stoke player and if he gets picked to play he isn’t going to say no to please some of the fans. I’m sure if Edwards was fit this week then he would have played, but he wasn’t so we have to make do.
Booing him was disgusting and cringeworthy. No enjoyment going down anymore, mostly because of the performances but also because of some of the fans.

The only thing thaf you could say in his defence is that he doesn't pick himself.
I'm far from feeling sorry for him, but he is what he is now, at this stage of his career, and eveyone but our manager knew it last season.
