The Tories ought to call an election not just shoe horn someone else in. But a part of me hopes they don't. The only thing more damaging to our jobs and prosperity than Brexit would be Brexit and a Corbyn government. I would personally prefer a No Deal Brexit followed by a Corbyn government. We should live and work with our European neighbours and not become a closed island whose national emblem is the grinning, gurning face of Nigel Farrage. And elect a government of the liberal centre ground. I think:-)

We should break free while we can before it implodes, then when the time is right, elect a true socialist government to make our country truly great again.

I just learned on Newsnight that 0.27% of the electorate (Conservative Party members) will choose the countries next leader and their average age is 70.

For people who value democracy so much you'd think the right wing Brexiteer who takes over the country by accident in a few weeks will call an election in four weeks max or will be an absolute utter fucking fraud. Anything else would be dripping hypocrisy.

The BBC said on the 6pm news that the Tory members average age was 57. Now they're saying it's 70. Wonder what they'll quote tomorrow, and what the average age actually is ?

My father had a saying that I truly believe in. When the lambs start leading the sheep, they end up in the river. I'm a great believer in this!

What the hell does it matter what age they are. So long as they are of voting age or older is all that matters. I look upon it as age brings more experience and knowledge

I was merely saying that the Beeb had quoted 2 vastly different average ages in 2 days - you'd have thought they'd get their facts right - or maybe not.

According to a Financial Times report in 2017 the average age is 72. But the Young Conservatives have five members (below) which brings the average age down to 71. However, these shabbily dressed kids are now two years older which takes the average age back up to 72.

You don’t think that young people become older people then? And, as has been illustrated many many times, their political beliefs move from left leaning to the right?

At least Brexit has brought more scrutiny to MPs who perhaps previously thought that they were secure and not really challenged. Now that we are having a closer look at them they don't seem as skilled, knowledgeable and honest as some of us were led to believe. They are usually very good talkers though, good presenters of image and good at toeing the party line.

They are usually very good talkers though, good presenters of image and good at toeing the party line. Won’t be until the general election though I think it’s a good thing. If MPs sit in safe seats where they just weigh the vote their constituents can’t really get rid of individuals they don’t like but still supporting the Party. I like the idea of primaries for main party candidates (as Lee won in Bracknell) where local party members vote as long as it’s no cost to the public with expenditure scrutinised. Parliament needs shaking up. Too many career politicians who have done nothin else before kerping a well paid living often unaccountable e and feathering their own nests. The sooner we make 5 years of council tax in that constituency or a massive family tie to that constituency a pre candidate mandatory the better. Will make Parliament more local and less London centric

The young are largely exposed to more left and less right leaning thoughts which sort of shift as they grow older leave university and get into the big world

link Brexit: Boris Johnson ordered to appear in court over £350m claim I see our friends to the right have gone silent on this issue, no surprise there then. facts are boris and farage did lie to the british public and did influence the Brexit vote with their lies. so the only conclusion you can call is that the Brexit vote was invalid and these pair of charlatons should be banged up.

It's the flimsiest, laziest excuse for a second referendum. I don't know anyone other than those calling for another referendum who actually took the friggin' bus seriously. The figure used on the bus was questioned and debated immediately so that anyone bothered could make an informed choice straightaway before the 1st referendum. The lies told by the remain side could only be properly disputed and shot down after the vote took place. Yet still the leave side won, despite the apocalyptic remain side's lies.
