He said: “I didn’t want them to win the semi-final and I didn’t want them to win the final either. It was a horrible, horrible feeling because I was so jealous.
“I remember going to the games and thinking, ‘Come on, just get beat and then that’s the FA Cup finished with’, and then they got to the final.
“It was horrible way to be because it was such a fantastic dressing room, but for me it was just human nature. And for me to say anything other than that now would be a lie.”

It's absolutely nothing to do with Pulis and everything to do with how Higginbotham felt. It's just a more extreme version of wanting your team to do well but not without you. I've missed a few important games in the past and never wanted my team to lose but there were mixed emotions flying around. Not sure Danny needs to be so honest about it though.

It's pretty obvious we had a great team spirit. I think we still do.

When i was (wrongly) a substitute for my former team, i wanted my team do badly, and the player in my position to be having a nightmare.

So, he was the twat in the posh seats punching the air with delight when Yaya Toure scored? makes sense now.

With a europa spot up for grabs you would expect the whole club to be wanting the win

Wanting to lose the semi and thus not have to miss out on the final is selfish but in some way understandable, but I really can't get my head round him wanting us to lose the final.

The only difference between Higginbotham and the rest here is that Higginbotham has been honest.
They are all the same. Secretly, when a player gets injured who is ahead of them in the order they are delighted, despite the cliche'd clap trap they come out with in the media.

Fantastic team spirit fostered there by the manager.... DNA Its the same lack of discipline that manifests itself when a manager lets his fucking useless striker who hasn't scored since the old king died, snatch the ball off our best player and risking losing a game we should have coasted.

Although seemingly wanting them to lose, it's a sort of rock and hard place situation. Saying he didn't want them to win, in this case, is slightly different to wanting them to lose, it is a way if you like of finding a crumb of comfort in yr teams loss. For example.... I know a lot have lambasted me in the past for betting against a stoke win, so I will word this slightly different. Lets say at the beginning of the season you put 20 quid on Man Utd winning the League and FA Cup double...At say odds of 50/1. Now, lets not bring the FA Cup into it, but lets hypothetically say Man Utd need a win on the last day of the season against Stoke.... And a Grand is on the line.... Would you be happy with Stoke losing...

Well the choices are lose £20 and stoke win the FA cup or lose and I win a grand I can’t lose if I’m honest so I’d take losing £20 all day long if we won the FA cup if you understand me now
