You have to give Burnley some credit also today because they’ve been solid again defensively.Having played Chelsea,Tottenham,Liverpool and now Everton in away games and remained unbeaten is a very good achievement for me Unreal..especially when you consider they had one of the worst away records in the division last season. God knows what's changed. Will be interesting to see what happens with their home form. Sometimes when teams resolve to address away performances there's a trade off and home form suffers. Happened to us a bit in our second season back up.

For about 14 of the 20 PL managers I would say it should be the absolute priority. The other 6 just keep buying players till something works. I think it's fair to say some are more ambitious than others and some clubs, even ones outside the top 6, have loftier ambitious than just pure survival. Ambitions don't really come any loftier than guaranteeing £100m income every season. The rest is really the icing on the cake.

They’ve struggled already mate in most games I think probably because the emphasis is on them to make the play.

And there ladies and gents is the Premiership beautifully summed up in one sentence They should ban transfers and just put all the players names in a hat and ask managers to pull out 25 names. THEN we might see some decent coaching...... The NFL is the nearest thing major league sport does to this. Sadly in football there is neither the desire or ability to introduce an equitable system.

Everton have no chance of getting him. I dunno, if he leaves his goalkeeping coach job at Oldham then it could be on the cards. Just had a look at his record and from 2007-2014 he only made 12 appearances for 4 different clubs, 10 of those for us. That's a lot of wages for very little service, that save against Leicester was a corker though.

That's another £100m in the bank!" They'll sack their manager. It's essential, but it's not the lone ambition of every club not in the top six. Some want more than just a joyless trudge to 40 points every year.

Maybe so last season but he’s spent a few bob last summer though.Mainly due to the sale of Keane I guess but it’s been re-invested now that’s for sure

They might start the season with such thoughts but if things aren't going well by Xmas it very soon becomes the absolute and overwhelming ambition and they want a man who can provide it! Providing a well organised and drilled defensive unit should be the in the basic skill set of any manager who considers themselves to be of PL standard.

I don't disagree with that but I don't really agree with the assertion that being well drilled and nothing else will get you that far. It'll take you to the top of the bottom half. What if things are going well by Christmas or even just ok?

The strange thing being they don't seem to be blessed with any great pace to play on the counter and don't seem to have a "Ric". They do seem very well organised though and apparently have a great record when being in front at half time, they rarely relinquish it. Dyche is definitely an apprentice Tone !

Annoys me how low his socks are, him and Januzaj are the only players I've seen do it Just screams "look at me, look at me, I'm special" Why does it? 😂 Some people take offence in the strangest things. Looks like a qunt.

That would seem to be a decent formula if you are not one of the 'elite'. Sean Dyche might or might not be any good at the fiddly bits if Burnley establish themselves this season as seems likely but if his defensive systems are still working then it won't really matter.

Yeah, he's a bit more expansive in that he has actual full backs who can get forward and scored a lovely passing goal today. But overall it's very much graft and functionality uber alles. Wouldn't want him here.

Dyche is an absolutely cracking manager. I wouldn’t go that far Bayern,he’s got a lot of Pulis about him for me Were saying on Talksport they often would have 8-9 players defending. I think we've seen what the end product of years of that is. I like Such a but he's learned from the school of Pulis.

Dyche looks a fine manager to me . His team have a smaller budget but no passengers clear plan and a system . Shit away last season he has learned about the league and sorted it out so far. But he is a Pulis on drugs! They will survive, just like we did.

THEN we might see some decent coaching...... The NFL is the nearest thing major league sport does to this. Sadly in football there is neither the desire or ability to introduce an equitable system. That's because there's a strictly enforced salary cap (same for all teams) and the TV money is distributed evenly amongst all the teams. There's also an annual draft in which the lowest ranked teams get first pick of the college players. The free agency system is strictly enforced so there's very little poaching of players. There's no promotion or relegation which encourages long-term planning. There's also an independent commissioner that oversees the owners to try and ensure they play by the rules. Compared with the NFL, the FA and the PL are the Wild West. This system makes it hard but not impossible for a team to establish a dynasty. The New England Patriots were the top team for several years (but were helped by a crooked coach and cheating quarter back - see "deflategate"). It warmed my heart to see the cheating patriots lose at home to the KC Chiefs who are now 3-0.

Whether they will be happy with their lot or wanting to push on ?

If he gets a fair wedge and it's still safety first and cautious you'd imagine the first rumblings of discontent will surface.
