Its not great for reffing when you KNOW that the ref is going to be good or not.

Why won't folk give Ekker credit for his decent performances this year. Are they still judging him on last season's sub-par form?

I like Ekker, but I think it's a combination of some absolutely woeful short passing that seems to be getting worse in his game, and Zouma just making every other defender on the pitch look like a lumbering oaf...

Ref was just plain wierd..the linos were the usual spineless jellyfish born of abused childhoods and probably get beaten by their own wives. Classic give it one way then flag the other when you see the ref signal that way, havent seen that classic for errrrr a couple matches

Pieters was excellent today and has been decent all season. A couple of bad passes today but a few decent crosss and some good interplay down the left hand side honestly don't know how anyone wouldn't be satisfied with his efforts today?

The free kick he gave against pieters at the end had me going mental. The Southampton player practically pulled his shorts down and the ref was looking right at it. Diabolical decision. As was the one in injury time dave when the Soton player fouled The Stoke player (canna remember who it was) Soton player falls over knocks ball into touch so of course its a soton free Kick cause they need an equaliser and ever uber (in my opionion ) bent Jones cannot add on much more time

Not saying I'm not satisfied with his performance, just answering the previous posters question. I like Ekker but Zouma is different gravy and makes everyone else look shite. Fact.

Van dyk, not even looking at the ball accidentally elbows crouch in the face. No foul. Minutes later, van dyk legitimately wins an aerial challenge with crouch, goes down holding his face...foul. Awful ref.

The only decision that lino got right all game and the ref overruled him . It was laughable at times

To a point I can imagine it must be hard to referee a game while someones sitting in the stand reffing the ref. It must put pressure on and cause mistakes .

The majority of us have 1/1s and performance reviews des. Most Callcentre workers are randomly monitored. Most callcentre workers would love to be on 3/4 grand a match or whatever it is they (refs) are on

You have to wonder how much conditions affect referees. Keeping fully focused in rain like that must be tough. Not making excuses for what was a crap refereeing performance, but I do wonder.

I think our reputation from past days does impact a refs thought process. They turn up determined not to be seen to be influenced by a hostile crowd and we're no longer a hostile crowd. They treat us as big bad stoke yet we're pussycats really and have been for a few years.

Difficult to ref a match with 2 very poor sides who were constantly giving the ball away, bumping into one another, mistiming tackles, falling over in slippy conditions, etc. He gave us a penalty remember and one of Allen's tackles might have been a straight red another day when he went in with his foot higher than knee height. Sympathy with the ref then. I didn't see that
