He's English. Born and bred. Does it matter where he's played his football? Surley the eligibility question would only matter if he was thinking of playing for the USA wouldn't it?

Its strange that the MLS haven't jumped on board with all these crazy transfer fees. $6million is what they got for Edu 10 years ago! They'd have to pay bigger wages then I guess. And they wouldn't want that.

Is he right-footed? If so, would he play on the right? Only if we switch to conventional wingers rather than inverted.
And I think we have to get used to Shaq leaving in the Summer. His deal is only until June 2019 and we won’t want to lose him for nothing, so unless he signs another deal before the World Cup (doubtful in my view), surely he’ll be off after Russia.

It does in terms of PL squad rules. You need 8 and ours are old/crap generally! 😂 Butland Grant Johnson Shawcross Allen Fletcher Ireland Berahino Crouch So long term it'd be useful if he was as 3/4 of them won't be here next season.

Yes I've just clocked the fact you were talking about the 'home grow' rule and not 'eligibility' My bad.

Seems to prefer his left... www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/05/14/10-reasons-why-jack-harrison-one-mls-top-rising-starsIt has to start with his left foot, doesn’t it? Harrison has used it to cut inside and abuse defenders on the dribble, send lethal crosses into the box and even to set up his right for a goal, as he did in a 2-0 win over the Red Bulls last July.
He’s also scored some impressive goals with his preferred foot, spinning Montreal defender Ambroise Oyongo to the ground before clinically finishing inside the far post in a 3-1 win last July and chipping Columbus Crew SC goalkeeper Zack Steffen on a difficult angle as part of a two-goal effort in a come-from-behind road win on April 29.

Why are we all squabbling over whether he counts as a home grown player or not? It really makes no difference in the grand scheme of things, does it? Not squabbling, just trying to find the rule as our homegrown player quota was nearly below the 8 last time and we need more really. Homegrown irrelevant, even with Jese we only have 14 non-home grown so space for 3 more still

Don't remember the names mate, might know him by a nickname, then again, Larry does know a few people about the place, I've know a few over the years but I've been away a lot as well Did you see the bit in the Sentinel? Haven't seen the Sentinel. The surname is probably throwing you, he was Christened Jack Harrison Giblin. His dad isn't John giblin is it?

Of the ones we've got I can't see Butland, Johnson, Ireland and Berahino being here next season so if he is one, it will be useful long term.

If the Sentinel's figures are correct, £3.25m is a hell of a deal for us when you see what Everton paid for Lookman from League One. Especially when you see what Huddersfield paid for Pritchard

We've got a good track record with players coming from the US haven't we : Jay Denny Brek Shea Maurice Edu Geoff Cameron Juan Agudelo (couldn't even get him over here ) Like the idea of having a local lad though, especially at the price being touted. Don't know how much of an impact he'd make right away though, I'd be tempted to loan him back until the summer. Central Midfield and Striker are our immediate needs, IMO. We've been linked with him and Schurrle, both wingers - maybe PL see's Shaq as a #10?

Pace and lots of skill, he has a very good cross on him. Also, anybody with eyes can surely see Shaq is a number 10, and can influence a game much better from the middle. We need a winger to allow him to push inside.

Sorry if it’s been said, but there’s 7 pages in this thread to read and I’m a very lazy man. I see Jack was born in Stoke, but do we know if he is actually a Stoke fan or not?

He’d be a great addition from MLS for that price. Its better than spunking £18 mil on hopefuls. He reminds me of Lampard and Drinkwater tbh. He’s local too. Get it done! Could be a big coup and grow into a fan favorite or captain This reminds me of when we got Cameron coming from MLS. I think these Bundesliga and MLS signings could turn our shit recruitment around. Bauer has been an excellent addition, hope we get Jack this window. Last time I was this excited we got BMI.

Sounds like a good potential signing.......... but we need to get shopping in more expensive areas too. The owners simply have to invest in upgrades/replacements that are ready to go right now. We have to show desire to stay in this league and that's going to require the intention to raise net spend when necessary, in my opinion.
