If this is true how have come no other Prem team have been interested in him (or have they previously) ? I'd have thought other clubs would have been sniffing around. I hope we manage to get this deal done ASAP. There has been some interest previously yes. Maybe he favours us because he'd be closer to family? Or he just didn't feel it was the right time to leave the MLS before now?

just get it done with little pissing about over the price. God knows we have wasted money on shite. Although this would be a gamble it's not a Brek Shea gamble we would get our money back

Is he not predominantly left sided? If so, what happens to Ramadan - Liverpool rumours have some substance, maybe?

Thanks, I hadn't seen that before. Looks like we might just have pulled off a surprise with this signing.

A few tweets think it's done and dusted Link? No one of any standing, they were saying from his interview it sounded very much like it was all completed and he was just saying the right things until it was confirmed. How do you add links using mobile version of page? (I can only write standard text)

Is he not predominantly left sided? If so, what happens to Ramadan - Liverpool rumours have some substance, maybe? He can play on either wing as he’s got two good feet. His left is slightly his stronger.

I'm afraid I'm the same...........however, we DID manage to do the Bauer and Staffy deals without too much hassle. Maybe we can get Jack H and a couple of others over the line in this window, too (Badou, Vainqueur, Dembele, Bas Dost???)

Yes midfield needs serious re-inforcing, with an injection of speed and physicality. Jack + Badou would sum up an outstanding transfer window although the latter seems to have stalled a little bit.

Harrison and Bauer down our right wing with Shaq pushed into the middle is tasty as fuck.
Things are starting to get exciting again.

I keep saying it but will surely end up at Man City sooner rather than later? He's owned by MLS, not NYC though, isn't he? (unless I've misunderstood how MLS works which is very possible!) and Man City are aiming for a team of superstars, not young projects like him. I thought we should've signed him in the summer. Could've got him very cheap - probably still could. MLS has some absolutely pants keepers wow

Kid looks quality and would give Choupo and Shaq better competition than Ramadan is
We’ve started the window so well and I hope we don’t miss the two positions we actually really need players.
Energetic ball winning midfielder and a striker should be top priority

I don't know if he's good enough to come in and make an impact straight away, or if he'll make it long-term. Hard to know if the MLS is Championship-standard, worse or better...
But if you look at:
his age the fact he's English the fact half his family would be living in Stoke, which couldn't help but be a benefit for him settling in the fact he's got a character reference from someone with the standards and standing of Lampard the fee (look what Everton had to pay for Ademola Lookman from League One)
..it does look a bit of a no-brainer at the kind of fee we're looking at paying

This is no bullshit rumour.
My guess is Cartwright has been in touch with Mellor who was at the MLS Combine last week.
If this has anything to do with Lambert I will be amazed. This is about Stoke getting a Stoke born talent back in the fold.
He’s a winger just like his dad. Can play both sides. Can he displace Shaq on the right or Choupo & Ramadan on the left? I doubt it.
It’ll be great to see him at Stoke but let’s keep expectations in check. He’s been a star & number 1 draft pick in the MLS. There will be a transition which may or may not work out.

It does look a sensible kind of gamble at that price for an English 21-year-old - especially one with a great attitude Even if he never makes it here, hard to see it as anything but a worthwhile punt.

Don’t disagree mate but I wouldn’t expect too much before the end of the season. My concern is that he will will end up on the bench or playing U23. He’s the main man in NY along with Villa. All I care about is the lads happiness & that will be achieved by playing football.
