I think he'll end up being a top player and we'll end up with egg on our face because we weren't prepared to go the extra mile. 10m is still pretty cheap when you look at what you'd pay for a youngster in the Championship. But you're not basing that on much though are you lets be fair?

Everything that is wrong with English football right there, another little piece of my love for the game has just died. It'll be interesting to see how much they pay. It's almost corrupt.

I agree with the sentiment, slap on a max number of outgoing loans any club can have, immediately stop the likes of Chelsea and Man City hoovering up players and loaning them out. Not yet convinced by this lad though.

If (and it’s a big if) this has any substance can someone explain to me why Pep the undisputed leader of the free footballing world, with all the things he has to focus on, thinks it’s an idea to get that Harrison lad sorted out and once sorted loan him out to his doppelgänger Tony Pulis? Really? Of all the clubs to send him on loan to he thinks Middlesbrough and Tony Pulis!

On one hand jack is set to get a big windfall. On the other, he would be signing away any chance he had of being a top level player.

No different to the Chelsea model. ' Middlesbrough show interest in to buy Jack.
Man City decide to buy Jack and loan him to Boro. He gets first team experience and they get a good look at him against Championship level.
If he does well, likelihood is that his value will triple and they could flip him. If he's fantastic then maybe they pick him up for next year.
If he does crap, then no loss to them. they're effectively buying him off themselves with MLS clipping the ticket.'I would have loved to see him down Stoke. He would have had a good chance of making either wing his own. Not like those fuckers don't have enough money.

Not almost, it is corrupt. The club needs to change it's recruitment policy. Stop fucking about trying to do deals with the richest group in world football. Probably a Hughes recommendation. Start looking for quality English players, with some fight in them. Try trawling the lower leagues.

Have Man City actually signed this guy then?
If so, it's taken them less than a day to deal with MLS and get it done but taken us a month for us to decide that the MLS are hard to deal with.
I'm aware that NYC are owned by Man City but still, they have to deal with MLS and agree a fee with them, for which we couldn't do.

Because Man City and New York City are owned by the same people, a transfer of Harrison from one to the other, in effect, costs Man City HALF of what it would cost ANY OTHER CLUB TRYING TO BUY HIM. The money due to the MLS will have to be handed over but the money handed over to New York City is, to the owners. simply a transfer of funds from one club that they own to another. The system stinks and should not be allowed by FIFA. The only way any owner should be allowed to own two clubs is where they own and run a male team and a female team - in such cases the two teams cannot collude on transfers to the disadvantage of other clubs. I suppose we could make a public offer to take him on loan from Citeh which would possibly have the effect of unsettling the player who may feel he wants Prem football in his father's home area this season rather than Championship football a hundred miles away from both sides of his family.

I fully get that, in reality Man City would only pay half, but (other than Stoke) if say Brighton came asking for X player, what would be quoted for them would be a lot less than if Man City asked for the same player.

Why do we keep getting in these daft situations, what with MLS shenanigans and work permits? There must be easier targets!

The one I feel for in this is Jack as he clearly wants to come to us. Man City will potentially ruin his career as its highly unlikely he’ll ever make the first team.

Scholes is so naive.
This move has been obvious for a while now but it took our interest to grease the wheels.
Someone did a good job somewhere.

This sort of situation needs to be addressed.
Man City will kill another promising career just by stopping him going elsewhere.

The whole thing is horrible and shows football in the future is going to be a very grubby business if action isn’t taken soon. Like Bayern says though , it’s odd that we always seem to be wondering naively into these situations.

Harrison needs to have a bit of backbone and realise it’s highly likely this will be a bad move for his career. Choose Man City and it’s the first step on the path to the scrap heap occupied by the likes of Rodwell, Wright-Phillips, Sinclair, etc.
Admittedly, we could all be wrong and he proves to have what it takes. Just would be nice to see someone back themselves to play regularly at a mid table club instead of heading for the bright lights and the cash and ending up a serial loanee.

I'm too long in the tooth to concern myself over missing out on a few players mate. That happens all the time, and always has done. It's the whole thing of clubs owning other clubs, and certain clubs owning 3 million players (slight exaggeration, but you get my drift) which concerns me
