He can fuck off the bald prick. What's the problem? There have already been several Premier League teams who aren't competing in Europe who've opted out of the competition.

He's managing in our country so he should crack on with it and keep his mouth shut.
If he doesn't like our football traditions and competitions then go back to his native country to manage there.
These blokes, to a man, are absolute wankers.

I wouldn't have a problem if these two arseholes asked the FA next season if they can opt out of the competition, it might even enhance the competition. But i somehow doubt they will although as we know the shit have past form in this area.

I think the cups need looking at, it tells you everything you need to know when Bristol City play the reserves against us (9 changes) Burton did at Old Trafford too. I think the winner of the League Cup and FA Cup should play in a playoff game at the end of the season for a place in Champions League.

I think the winner of the League Cup and FA Cup should play in a playoff game at the end of the season for a place in Champions League. That will never be voted through, but even if it was you will find that in the vast majority of cases the two clubs playing off will most probably be assured of a Champions League place any way and if they aren't they will be teams like Arsenal and Liverpool who have blown their chances of Champions League football by their Premier League form. The bigger clubs are beginning to dominate the domestic cup competitions as well.

Most of the top countries have a Cup and a League Cup. I'm not sure Spain has one but they play the Copa del Rey over two legs every round.

It is shit now though isn’t it? It’s a reserve tournament for most teams in the top 2 leagues because the difference in prize money and potential Prem money is so vast. Teams don’t want to risk their league form.
It’s about £2m per place in the Premier League and the prize money for winning the league cup is £100k, runner up gets £50k, everybody else gets peanuts.
Solid mid-table Prem teams will want to have a bit of a go so the season isn’t completely meaningless, lower league teams have a bit of a pay day on gate receipts but other than that what’s the point? The prestige isn’t there anymore.

I've always thought that it was profoundly stupid to be in the Champions' League without actually winning anything.
There should be one place for the winner of each competition. If the winner is already in Europe then pass it down to the runner up of that particular competition with no swapping between competitions. Prem > FA Cup > League Cup in terms of priority in the "already in Europe" stakes.
The fourth place should go to us as we're the oldest top-flight team in the world and therefore champion of age.

Pep's not going to win the Champions League with Man City, so he should be greatful for the Carabao Cup.

Yeah, it could join the Watneys Cup in the 'Competitions We Have Won But No Longer Exist' category.

Get rid of it I say, give the top 4 more of a chance of winning the European cup, oh, hang on, edit, give the top 4 more chance of playing pointless friendlies in target markets, that's what I meant.

I think the death knell is sounding sadly. Money rules all and for me Burton resting players in what should have been a plum cup draw against Manchester United to concentrate on Championship survival says all you need to know about the future of the competition.
It'll be a shame when it does go though. One trophy in our entire history is already a sorry enough statistic and it'll be devalued even further if it becomes a non current competition.

It'd be another kick in the teeth for lower league football and indeed clubs like us in the premier league
How general rank and file football fans can think it's a good idea is beyond me
What with this and U21 sides competing in competitive competitions v league sides it really is the thin end of the wedge
Tell them to fuck off as when those pair of cunts have long left our shores with bucket loads of cash they won't give a shit about our great league structure and competitions

It is not the fact that we depend on it,, it has always been a Game Leveller... aka us at Liverpool when we drew at Anfield (Tony Kelly last minute equaliser)
Bristol did to us what we used to do to others... the Shit with Steino's double... memories written in folklore Stoke and West Ham in the 70's
Not only are the Foreign Managers and London Media Express Train rejecting this competition, they are openly slagging it off as an hindrance to their overpaid player / club & media expenses paid mission.
Will Stoke City, Burnley, Newcastle, Huddersfield, Southampton, WBA, Watford, Leicester, Swansea, Leicester, Brighton, West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton & Palace agree to this... nope or should not
It is a media frenzied thing, yet another, that means they are trying to re-structure us towards a European model. Next will be the Winter Break... but a serious attack on what we do.. we should resist whole-heartedly.. and if it has got to the point where we have no sponsor... fuck it... the League Cup remains the league Cup because we say it does... not them.
Once this goes... we will have more Checker-trade type exercises that do nothing for Football in this Country... at the behest of a few Foreign Managers
The LEAGUE CUP is the only thing we have won against top opposition... we need to cherish that and think of all the Team's below us where we once were.

The cup was introduced in 1960 after an initial idea by Sir Stanley Rous.
These fly by nights weren't even born. I think it's those we should lose first.
