Wolly hasn't played a game for Metz yet, has he? That would explain why they're bottom of Ligue 1. This man absolutely knows his onions.

He'd still struggle to get in the team! He'd walk into that defence the other night, even with gloves on... Don't you mean prance? ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

Crouchy at CB then ![(lol)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/lvpvZ64EmrkLcuVniUmo.gif) If the defensive availability is as bad as suggested, then playing Crouch is not such a bad idea. He could at least defend at corners, an area where we are very vulnerable at the moment.

It's blatant theft from another poster but... Mr P Wollscheid of Saarland sends his regards... Would prefer Souttar to Wolschied even if he was still here!

..................Butland................... ....Wimmer.......Shawcross.......Indi....... Diouf......Fletcher......Allen......Pieters .....Shaq..........Crouch.........Chapou.... I won't play Johnson at any cost, I will keep Ryan in the middle no matter what, I really don't want to play Wimmer, but have to because of lack of options! We look very threadbare at the back and midfield right now! A couple of injuries and we're in real trouble! ![8-|](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/rY_vRFLA3mqqdMbEG4cF.gif) Subs: Grant, Edwards (if fit), Soutar, Ramadan, Jese, Berahino, Adam. Seems like this team is out of the question due to all the injuries! With both Ryan and Geoff out, Zouama unavailable and also Wimmer doubtful how could we line up? .................Butland.................... .......Souttar....Indi.....Pieters......... Diouf......Fletcher....Allen......Ramadan ......Shaq.......Crouch.......Chapou...... Is Tymon a better alternative to Ramadan? I still feel Ramadan will cope better with the Chelsea players due to his physicality. Is Souttar ready for this already? He's very right-footed and Willian and Moses will be attacking him on the outside. I'd be amazed if he chucked Souttar in. If Wimmer's out, you'd think it'd have to be a back 4.

Hughes says only Indi available if so then Indi with Johnson ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/84w9NwSsj6YY9VWeECaY.gif) & Pieters ![8-|](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/rY_vRFLA3mqqdMbEG4cF.gif) Tymon & Diouf as wing backs Butland might be busy... edit: he could give Souttar a game probably going to lose anyone & the young lad would gain valuable experience

Shows the nonsense of loan players not able to face their parent club for what it is . He said he would try young lads this season we may see if he was being honest tomorrow If Sweeney was here, he'd be an option. But would you throw Souttar in against Morata? If we are playing a back 3 maybe, it will be hard for him of course but until he is thrown in we will never know how he can perform , he certainly couldn't have done worse than wimmer the other night who didnt seem remotely focussed on the game

I'm in two minds. Do I wear my Shaqiri shirt hoping for a quality moment or my Beatie shirt hoping for a gritty in ya face war?
Stoke will be either heroes or zeroes after this encounter, there seems little scope for anything in between.

If we are short of numbers defensively then Hughes and co must accept much of the blame. Injuries are inevitable, running with just a 21 man named squad (19 in reality considering the Affelay and Ireland positions) is not. Unless of course he demonstrates faith in the youngsters, which based on track record here, he does not.

It was only a couple of weeks ago people were saying buying Wimmer gave us too many 1st choice CB's on the books, now you're trying to say the management are to blame for not bringing in more ? You can't have 3 injuries and 1 ineligible player to a specific position and still have more top quality back up to come in. We'd be fine if it was anyone other than Chelsea this weekend.

Strangely enough, leaves me wondering why we got rid of Bardsley rather than Johnson. I know which i'd have preferred at centre half. Presumably you didn't see bardsley's performance for Burnley v Leeds in mid week. He made Johnson look like alves.

Central midfield is where we are really short,no youngsters there either. Hughes in my opinion only wanted quality,no filler. I think a midfielder on loan would have been a good compromise. He does have the option of Souttar tomorrow or he can play two full backs in a back three. As I said earlier I would give the young player a go in this instance.

I am clinging to the hope that if Hughes plays Johnson on the right of a back three, where his old legs do not have to be stretched to actually run up and down the wing, he may just about be okay. He did play there a few times last season, so it is not a totally alien position to him. Pieters should actually be more comfortable there than being asked to be an attacking wing back.
It would be a massive step up for Tymon at left wing back, mind you, but at some stage you have to find out if the kiddies have what it takes.

Wow five at the back could well be Diouf/Johnson/Indi/Pieters/Tymon....shit! Wasn't sure whether I was heading down to Hilton Head to play golf or watch Stoke in the sports bar. I think the injury news has made my mind up for me. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/4tzqvp1fxEemag_TAXLJ.gif)

What are our options when playing Johnson and he breaks down?
Is that when we bring on one of the kids?

He spent most of the night giving an impression of Ronaldo bar the quality of his football. Hughes is right to question him.
