Highlights? Pre match....and one of our South West contingent being asked by one of let's say "Bristol City under 10s" after the match by the "well lit" park 🙄 "which part of Stoke you from?"....😂 obviously geography & accents not the young wurzels strongest subject

one shot!!! and Wimmer looks just about the worst defender ever to pull on a stoke shirt on the 2nd goal , I really hope that is not typical because if it is wolly will look like a world class centre half in comparison

Spurs pay £4m for him in August 2015 and sell him to us for £18m in August 2017. In that time he played for about 10 hours in total across 15 fixtures. What was it he did in those 10 hours to increase his value 4 or 5 fold? One of those appearances was when he came on as a sub against us last season so we would have seen him close up then, but that was the match where Spurs 'declared' 4-0 up at half time and I was there and I can tell you he didn't have a lot of defending to do. My suspicion is that we had the Arnie money burning a hold in our pocket, our other targets didn't come in and the transfer team right at the death simply thought what the heck we may as well spend it on another Austrian guy, the last one made us a mint. Try as I might I can't escape the feeling that Spurs have absolutely rinsed us on this one.

Where are all these wonder saves from Grant that kept if from being 6 or 7 ?
The 1 on 1 at the start yes brilliant save, every other on them highlights are just your run of the mill chances that you'd expect any goalkeeper to save.

No, but 2 goals conceded, 1 excellent block, and a couple of touch overs for the cameras is already at the high end of what you would ideally like to see against Bristol City reserves. I don't know how representative those highlights were but there seemed to be precious little going the other way. Just Choupo's tame effort at the death and BMI (?) following up to shank the rebound behind himself which seemed almost anatomically impossible to do if he tried!

That's why I'm wondering if it's missing any highlights. It's a shit result but after reading on here that it should have been 6 or 7 I was expecting to see a Grant masterclass, a header straight at him and a long range looping shot that looked like it was going over anyway is hardly Grant preventing a 6 or 7 goal mauling. The thing I'm concerned with is that we appear to have only created 1 chance worth showing.

They've done Ramadan a favour there not showing his attempted flick when one on one.
That second goal was a complete arse. Zouma going to head the ball and leaving his man not giving Winner chance to get over and cover. Sunday league stuff.
All those Grant saves were in the first ten mins by the way

Shocking defending - how slow is Wimmer. He has a 5 yard headstart on the first goal and never looks like getting close as the Brizzle forward just breezes past him
Berahino's follow up after Choupo's shot is saved is just embarrassing

Did anyone really expect a left footed centre back to smack the ball into the back of the net? And no one has picked up on Zouma missing the header for their second goal which came after a flick on.

Who was the follow up from Choupo Motin effort. please tell me that;s not berahino Berahino was in the middle. Think it was BMI I was right behind the goal and that follow up looked easier than it was. The ball bounced up to hip height and BMI couldn't get a clean hit on it.

The commentary suggested that Wimmer hit the bar early on in the first half
We still need an attacking player who can take chances and anticipate passes into the box
First goal is always important and it sounds as though our play became increasingly desperate as the game wore on
Very disappointing , Chelsea next

Very disappointing , Chelsea next We bought one for £12m, remember? To be fair, he got 45 mins in an away game where we'd been awful. Not to mention he was playing in a 442 aswell. A formation we proved beyond doubt last season is an utter waste for us. I think for the Chelsea game we need the creativity of Jese/Shaq/Choupo up front, but any other game, where we need a focal striker to finish and get on the end of chances, he starts for me.

Try as I might I can't escape the feeling that Spurs have absolutely rinsed us on this one. Totally agree, does seem odd that Spurs paid £4m for him and they've sold him for a lot more. Levy seems to get the most from his assets. Wimmer got attracted to the ball against United and let Lukaku free to make it 1-2. Last night the goals were not massively concerning in my view. The first one was a free header that left someone a run on goal and a clear effort on goal, that's why the ball is played towards the touchline on goal kicks to prevent things like that, straight balls are always favourable for the defensive side. I'd be more concerned about the teams shape for the first goal if anything. For the second the wrong defender attacked the ball, Wimmer should have gone up for the header as it was his man which left the other attacker free. Obviously the performance was concerning as a whole. But when the defence gets exposed to one on one situations like where the two goals came from last night you're going to concede.
