This is the continuation of what has been mostly dross since the League Cup semi against Liverpool. A year and a half, not a blip of eight games or so. Hughes has assembled this squad and he's accountable. If Wimmer's another flop that's £50m spent on three players down the toilet.
Is anyone really that surprised about last night's result? (I can't comment on the actual performance as I wasn't there but it was utterly abysmal by all counts).

There's always someone who could do a bit better.
We've had an embarrassing defeat and it's certainly a worrying sign that the problems of the past two seasons might be rearing their ugly head, but at this stage it's not "sack the manager" time, we're not THAT sort of club so there's no way it's happening anyway.
Plenty of promise from the first few games, that doesn't get negated by one stupid cup defeat.
That's not to say I'm not furious about it, mind you.

Simple answer is yes there are better coaches/managers. Would we attract one, not with the current managers salary and net transfer budget.

Sparky will keep us in the big money league. Football goes bump, get rafa in, suddenly we're near the top as the only premier league team to survive then we beat nottingham forest, one of a number of clubs(including, leeds, boro, wednesday, villa) deservedly back in the big time 5-1 to secure the premier league title. In an ideal world Seriously deluded not just on the football performance but mostly the financials. We are a club that depends almost totally on the tv money like most of the others outside the big 6 or 7. They are the ones most insulated from the tv bubble bursting because their commercial incomes are massive. The only insulation we have is lack of outside debt and super rich owners. The best we could hope for if the bubble bursts is becoming the strongest of the rest whilst others flounder. The poster who thinks you get more money to spend at Stoke than Newcastle is also living in a parallel universe.

Organise the bloody defence!!! (aint ever going to happen though) Bring in a defensive Coach, if we have one now, sack him.

I genuinely do feel that for a while now, he's managed to get the team achieving 'less than the sum of it's parts'.
Kind of the opposite of what we had got used to, and not particularly positive.

The easy answer is yes, but, another manager could do worse and get us relegated, and you have to answer the next question and not just pass the buck: who?
Would anyone go with an unproven Prem. league manager, when so many from other leagues struggle to win anything, even when they have a virtual limitless budget; we weren't the only Prem club KO'd last night. Some arrive from other leagues and go before you can remember their names! Allerdyce would sort out our defence, but would we score any more goals? Then there is Moyes, Pardew, etc. need I say more?
Then there is the question on who would come to Stoke? Rafa wouldn't go to a small club and many others would not see it as progressing their career, just a sideways move. The only chance you have of getting a big name manager is to employ someone looking to rebuild his reputation.
We have started the season better than expected, and, as has happened before, fallen apart when a couple of first choice players get injured. We've played badly for 2 games, it happens; it's far too soon to start the Hughes Out campaign again.

It would have helped if his signings were correct, not sorted the striker out and no midfield enforcer, and as for the wing backs fffs. Got entirely the wrong personel for how we are playing.
