Just a rant over something that really bothers me. It continually surprises me how so many Premier League strikers have glaring misses in front of goal, and not just for us but every other team as well. Choupo Moting missed a good chance for us yesterday, and Lukaku skied one over the bar last week. I know the top level game is fast and opportunities can be gone in an instant but these guys are paid to score goals. I played in school and county football and if I had missed some of the chances these guys do I would have been dropped, and deservedly so.

No, that doesn't happen often does it. But some of these missed chances defy belief and some players should really look at themselves and say "I'm better than that". I know I wouldn't have got away with it for long.

Shearer has always said that missing chances shouldn't worry forwards. When you're not getting the chances is the time to be concerned.
Getting into the right position is a massive part of being a good striker. The great ones are the ones who are also natural finishers. But just having a knack for being in the right place means that someone like Diouf will always bag a few goals.

Quite often and its not just whilst we have been in the PL somerset chances have fallen regularly to opposition players that you cannot believe have not been taken

The Hoss missed three - thank God And a lot of fans on here wanted to keep him! Joselu makes me laugh, a striker?, he should be done under the trade descriptions act. Apparently Hughes didn't even acknowledge Jos as he was subbed {again}. I thought Jos would leave England, interesting to know what really went on.

Joselu had. An article in the Daily Mail on Saturday saying he left Stoke as Hughes did not trust him! No wonder given the three chances he missed! He said he wanted to play regularly in the first team as many on here said.
No surprise that Hughes did not shake hands with him or acknowledge him.

Thought he'd make a decentish 10 or even winger. Immaterial really he pissed on his chips here.

Cloughy once said that scoring a goal was the hardest thing to do in a game. Some of the greatest strikers in the world miss easy chances regularly. Shearer (once a great goalscorer) is right. The time to worry is when teams create no chances.

Even the great John Ritchie missed some sitters. Being in the right place is a knack all good goal scorers have and given the chance they will score more often than not. Chopper lacked composure, Mame had a very good header well saved and one that on another day he would have scored.

Plenty of these guys are paid incredible amounts of money, in the belief that they can score important goals regularly. Yet the record of many of them is abysmal. eg Wilfried Bony, Saido Berhahino. The statistics show that the best strikers have a scoring rate of probably one goal in every two games or perhaps three.
My point is not if they are relatively succesful or deserve their pay, but how supposedly top class sportsmen miss so many of the chances that they should convert. I can't say that I was a prolific scorer at my level, but I would at least hope to get my shots on target, or within a few inches of the goal, even if they were then saved.
