9 for me, tactics spot on and good to see the players obviously believing in what he asked them to do. Refreshingly different from last season.

10*, can't see what he got wrong, tactics worked, players were up for it and he was on his feet all game. And we stopped the Shits winning streak.

9* Superb performance from the team and great stuff from Hughes. I would have taken Shaq off for Ramadan however, Shaq was extremely unaffective and Sohbi would have provided extra defensive work. However, what a day! You did watch the game? I accept it's an opinion about Shaq but it's very different to what most people saw.

Final 20 minutes Shaq was ineffective and needed replacing. My opinion of course but needed to replace him with fresh legs who will track back faster and get up the field faster.

That would be the Pieters who made our second goal with his cross to Jese? Our second goal was a corner from Shaq and headed in by Choupo! And yes Pieters had a poor game. 9 from me. H

Would of brought Ramadan on instead of Berahino for Jese. Keeping ramadan out is still a fucking mystery.

9 - got the boys up for today - playing Choupo through the middle looks like a masterstroke - he offered the physical presence of Crouchy without getting isolated from the players behind him. It was heartening to see us actually take the game to Manure instead of sitting in our own half and hoping for a lucky break. 1 point deducted for not wearing the club tie I know there are always differing opinions that account for the way people view a game differently but playing Choupo down the middle just wasn't something that happened. He played on the left of Jese who played through the middle to no great effect like choupo when he played him there. The position is a problem for us no doubt. * 8. Surprised by initial selection. Great result and team performance.

Great result and team performance. I agree with your comment re Choupo. No way was he "played down the middle". He was played on the left. OK, as you would hope, he was mobile and popped up in the middle from time to time including when he scored the first and he even appeared on the right in the first minute when he won the corner after being put through bey Jese, but his position was on the left. You are right about the central position being a problem at the moment. Jese is better used in either of the wide attacking positions. Shaq can play either on the right attacking position or behind a central striker but with 3 at the front in a 343 there is (Diouf apart) no natural leader of the line at the moment, other than Crouch whose lack of pace means he is likely to be most use as a late sub. I'd be inclined to play 4231 with the 3 being CHoupo, Shaq and Jese with Diouf in front of them. But that would leave a problem at right back.

Would have had to win to score a 10.
But spot on in every other respect.

I think it has to be 9*. I was initially confused by picking Cameron instead of Bruno, but it was clearly that his greater pace and athleticism was needed to counter Lukaku. A perfectly reasonable tactical decision.

9* from me. I particulary liked the fact that Hughes didn't make any subs right at the end just to play time out. The side was sound as a pound as it was, and I was hoping he wouldn't upset it. A win would have got him a massive 10. Great stuff Hughes!

Who would your centre backs be? That would be a problem as well - given that we'd have a surplus of centre backs! But it would be a different problem. I suppose I would go for Ryan and Indi or Wimmer as my 2 CBs and cheat and move Bruno to Defensive Midfield behind Fletcher and Allen. I saw an interview with Wimmer where he said he could play left back or left wing back - which would be nice if he wasn't over estimating his ability. Unfortunately Zouma is on record as saying he doesn't like RB or RWB. Looked for you and Jezza in Delialh's on Saturday but couldn't find you - hope Jezza enjoyed the match

We didn't go into Delilah's, John. I met one of the SW Stokies outside to pick up my tickets for the new corner which was really good viewing...most impressed. We were with RAF too and went out in Alsager for a curry that evening and played golf on the Sunday morning. Sorry to have missed you.

No problem - it would have been nice to have seen you and Jezza face to face for the first time in a few years. Glad you enjoyed the new corner. I had a nose around it before the Arsenal game. Very impressed with the small screen on the back of the big one for those whose view of the other screen is blocked and also pleased with how much better the stadium now looks from my seat in the Boothen. I hope we fill it and give Coates the confidence to build the other two corners before I shuffle off this mortal coil!
