BBC say 53% of people in Britain identity themselves as having no religion. I'm very happy to be part of that majority as I see religion causing so much trouble throughout history. I would hate to live in a country dominated by religion. Would we be better if it died out completely?

Humanity needs religion because we are spiritual beings.
We have lost faith in ourselves (I present Trump/N.Korea as evidence). Therefore we need sky gods and fairytales.

Yes, it would be better if you could persuade the superstitious to give it up, as it would at the very least remove one very persuasive reason for persecution and killing. I'm sure humanity would find other reasons though. The ironic thing about religion is that even believers are atheists, it's just that some go one god further.

'I see religion causing so much trouble throughout history'

The biggest Bigots and haters of people are religious people, they supress women, they are struggling to become Priests then they hate any homosexuality because the sky wizard says its a sin yet these fuckers seem to have a cartel on peadophiles. I hate the religious crap, all fighting over who has the best imaginary friend and as for the bible it is the biggest story book ever known to man.
They have you believe or try to believe that 2 penguins walked from the antartic to the middle east and got on a boat, yeah right. Finally the pictures they portray of Adam and Eve are 2 homosapiens so based on this logic as they were the first humans is the bible stating homosapiens came before Neanderthals then we went back to being homosapiens again. Gotta be one fucked up twat to believe this shit and then prey to the sky wizard to be cleansed

'I see religion causing so much trouble throughout history' But surely a huge majority of religious folk are very loving caring people? Nobody wants them to stop being loving and caring. I'm sure a good proportion of the non religious are too. Just seems like such pointless nonsense.

It would seem pointless when you are looking from the outside in I'm no believer in man made religion, but to tar all religion with war mongering is wrong I don't see no wrong in bringing up children with modern day Christian values......it's what many kids in this country are short of imo

But football and religion are inextricably linked. Who remembers "Jesus Saves but Big John scores the rebounds"

I'd miss Christmas though. 'Christmas' happened for tens of thousands of years before Christianity. It won't be going away...
