Agreed we have good cover at centre half but for me it's a blow because Shawcross mostly plays well against Lukaku

If Ryan and Fletch are out I guess Cameron must move up to midfield, but as Diouf also is carrying a knock will Ramadan be our righ wingback? I guess Bruno will play more central and Wimmer will slot in for him. ...............Butland.................. .....Zouma......Bruno.......Wimmer...... Ramadan...Cameron....Allen.....Pieters .........Shaq...........Jese.............. ................Crouch................... Squad depth already showing fragility - zero creativity in that midfield It's likely to be a game where we need a midfield with defensive qualities rather than creativity though isn't it>

Wording seems a bit weird. He's 24, not 18.

No mention of Diouf's fitness?
Mind you, think he may be tempted to go for Geoff at RWB anyway?
And he never seems to be really considered to play up front these days.....

Reading between the lines ryans fitness issues are the reason we signed wimmer, credit to the club for resolving the issue. a 100% fit ryan is one of the best defenders in the league.sadly bad backs dont seem to cure so all we can do is manage the situation.with plenty of rest between games we can hopefully play ryan in 20 games. one thing for sure with ryan is bad back or not if he plays he will still give 100% I believe the club was quite right to give him an extended contract.we are run by people who have a heart as well as a buisiness brain, we all saw that in the way we dealt with rory when he broke his leg and we were duly rewarded. good luck with the recuperation ryan its a long season all our defenders will have a big part to play this season.

It's a blow not having Ryan in the centre of defence. He wins so many headers and blocks a lot of goal attempts.
What a debut for Wimmer though. Still confident that our defence will be tough to break down.
Super Jack
Zoom BMI Wimmer
Cameron/Diouf Fletch Joe Eric
Shaq Saido Jese
RWB is a tricky decision. I might give Diouffy another run as I think his pace and energy can help stretch them.
Same game plan as Arsenal, but hopefully keep the ball a little better when we have it. Invite them on and break fast. A fluid front 3 of Shaq, Saido and Jese for me. Let's stay in a tight nailbiting game and hope that Shaqiri can produce a bit of magic from that left foot. If they have a weakness, I think it's at full back. I would be encouraging Jese and in particular Shaqiri to run at Valencia and Blind and look to cut in and shoot.
They struggled to break down Leicester and only killed Swansea in the last 10 minutes. I'm not sure they're as good as their results suggest. I hope we can pull off a bit of a shock on Saturday evening.

Been away for 3 days with work and just got into car to hear this news on radio. Can't see a thread here about it.
Do we know what's wrong with him?

I think this makes selection ahead of this game easier for MH. It means Zouma can stay in the 3 CB's where he has been outstanding so far this season. Really looking forward to Zouma vs Lukaku.
The only issue is who to play at RWB. i think i'd go for cameron. As much as i love Diouf he was done with easy balls over the top very easily against Arsenal, luckily they're shite. UTD wont be so forgiving.

I'm almost certain it will be Wimmer. No brainer, surely? You'd think so, especially with Wimmer having a week to bed in. But maybe Spinsky has got a hint that he's not going to chuck him in? Earlier in the week, he was suggesting Cameron was likely to play RWB. But if Diouf is fit to start, who knows?

Is Sparky's press conference today or tomorrow? I hate that bit when they say 'Any injuries Mark?' and he pauses before looking as though he is going to declare a clean bill of health for everyone before saying something like 'Not really, well Fletch's knee which kept him out of the internationals means he is still a doubt and Zouma took a knock on his ankle in the post-match warm down which we are hoping will settle down, and Choupo's hamstring we are monitoring but he's still very much in my thoughts. I think that's it" And there it was, well roughly

Diouf missed both internationals and hasn't trained so I'd be shocked if its not Cameron at RWB, unless of course Fletcher doesn't make it in which case Cameron in the middle and Sobhi at RWB,,,,,

bloody hell, well done to the transfer team to get Wimmer in. Looks like a very good move and wont upset the balance
The question is who plays right side, centre and left side
Wimmer in the middle for me

It would be suicidal to have Diouf at RWB for this game. He was really exposed against Arse and a better team would have taken more advantage of this weak link....so surely he will go for extra solidity at Rwb and forgo any extra attacking advantage that Diouf offers. I guess however if Wimmer is not ready to step up, and you have to ask why, the manager has little choice and If Diouf starts I will need an extra half bottle of Kings County to get me through tomorrows game.
