What's the truth that we finally got around to offering our Captain a contract in the last few days or are you calling Ryan and his wife a liar? What on earth are you on about? All Ryan's wife ever said was there was no contract on the table. That's doesn't mean that they weren't discussing it at the time does it? When the negotiations concluded (presumably in the last few days)then the contract was drawn up and he signed it. Read Fuller Magic's post and then ask yourself what it is you're talking about. The fact people are passing off this whole process as entirely normal is very revealing in terms of Scholes longevity at the club and the fiasco that is the Supporters Council. Swallow owt.

You've had some valid gripes with Scholes and co. over the years fella, but this isn't one of them. Enjoy the moment and don't be afraid to say "Excellent news, well done Stoke City and well done Tony Scholes".....

Excellent news. Well done Ryan our very own modern day stoke legend. A major part of our premier story. Hope a testimonial is part of the deal. Well done stoke great business keeping our skipper.
I often think we sing so many songs for players who have only been here 5 minutes and I know there is a song for Ryan but he needs a legends song that can be boomed out around the ground. How about simply singing to the amazing grace tune just his surname. I know it was used for a another stoke legend back in the 70's but surely Ryan has earned the respect to get a truly timeless tribute.

Wonderful news! 👍 Congratulations must go to Scholes again. I just hope Tony doesn't get poached by a top six Prem club.🙂

Great news. We now have 5 capable centre backs, for 3 spots. Now, just need a couple more wing backs and we will have a squad that can push for our best PL finish ever.

Really happy for all parties on this one, great news and hopefully a bit of stability moving forward - think he's done well to get a 3 year extension.
I just pray that this will not be the distraction to us not doing any further business?

Which post? The one where he wrote 'Superb!' and left it that? He meant the other thread that had various stories linked on it with both club and player being very coy on the situation. Which constitutes the club not discussing a new contract until this morning, even though Shawcross has said today that these things take time which shows they've been negotiating for a while.

"There's no massive rush"... sounds pretty relaxed there. One month later the deal is done. The only quote there suggesting discontent is in the opinion of the Daily fucking Telegraph... Are you going to go full Bayern on us?

Or maybe in another possible version of events Scholes knew he could get it all sorted in 5 minutes on the morning of transfer deadline day and that would save him and Ryan a lot of time. Whichever way you look at it, Scholes well and truly comes out of this smelling of roses.

It takes a special level of dumbassery to conclude that letting your captain enter his final year and have near three month gap in discussions about it forcing him to go to the press is a work of genius but that's the modern Stoke fan it seems! As for it actually being announced today, you don't have to have a Malcolm Tucker memorial degree in the dark arts of spin to work that one out do you
