Talk Sport just reported that the Everton goalkeeper is injured and so not available for the two forthcoming internationals.
With many saying that Joe Hart is no longer a viable prospect, is this Jack's big chance to make the position his own ?

Butland should be given the nod. He wasn't at his best against West Brom but Hart looks shot of all confidence.....

Its a good job mind his performance on Sunday wouldn't have done much to sway things his way otherwise, not one of his finest performances.

Head and shoulders above Pickford.
Literally.

I didn't see the fuss about Pickford right now. He had one good season for one of the worst teams in Premier League history, whereas Butland has been exceptional for longer. Pickford has plenty of potential, but I'd prefer Butland in goal. Let's not forget that Jack is also still improving, As he showed with his command of his area and willingness to claim loose balls against Arsenal.
For me, Butland should be the undisputed first choice.

Jack must surely play. But I doubt he'll have much to do 😊

Jack must surely play. But I doubt he'll have much to do 😊 In some respects they're the worst type of games for keepers. Away to Germany or Spain you might make a mistake and then redeem yourself with 4/5 great saves, against the minnows you might be called upon only once or twice all game so any mistake will be exaggerated. But he has the big game temperament so I'm sure he'll be fine.....

Hope Southgate didn't want MOTD 2 on Sunday night, the commentator on the highlights wasn't slow to call him out as some kind of Jittery Jack !

Pickford has it all to prove, a big transfer fee won't result in being first choice for the national team. He needs a good year in the premier league first. It could be close between him, Jack, Hart and Foster come the World Cup though. There isn't a lot between them IMO but I'd love to see Jack in goal next summer.

If Pickford is injured then Jack surely gets a start.

is this Jack's big chance to make the position his own ? I can't even believe this is a question for some. Butland has shown his class year after year in the supposed best league in the world, has captained the U21's and doesn't seemed phased anytime he's mentioned with the big clubs. Pickford has played a handful of games before jumping at the first opportunity when a club bigger than Everton came in with a wedge of cash. Heaton and Forster aren't fit to lace Jack's boots.
