5 - would have lost but for a gift. No penetration as usual. Would have finished 0-0 had it not been for defensive errors.

6. But for a defensive mix up by them, we'd be bemoaning another 1-0 surrender at the Hawthornes. Doesn't seem like he's learnt anything from the previous defeats in the this fixture as we set up exactly the same way again. 8 But for a defensive mix up by us we would be cheering a 1 - 0 win But for defensive mix ups it would have been 0-0!

Reasonable effort, no cutting edge. Looked fairly secure on corners and free kicks in our defensive third. You've signed plenty of strikers Mark fucking play one and why so reluctant with Ramadan?

7.5 from me as well. We were the better team but lacked the invention to make the most of our possession. I thought at half time that Ramadan needed to come on very early in the second half and I still think that. Not arguing with Crouch coming on and it was justified but I'd have gone the whole hog and brought Berahino on as well towards the end. He'd have been fired up and his pace (compared to whoever he replaced) would have been useful and we might have snatched a win. Not depressed though - Ramadan did well and pointed out what can be achieved with wing backs prepared to cross a ball to a big striker. I think Ramadan is worth a few games at right wing back. He's played wing back for about half an hour spread over the last two games and scored one goal and made another. Yes, I know today's goal was a mix up but if you put pressure on defences they often make mistakes - we have done often enough! Basically this (7.5*) bringing Saido on late on would have "put the wind up the Baggies". We were the only side looking to win it and that move might just have made the difference. WBA were VERY defensive, getting everybody behind the ball as soon as they lost possession...odd that

5- the team again lacked any cutting edge, to many balls sideways/ backwards boring to watch at times we use to give arsenal shit for playing how we are now. Having possession of the ball doesnt win football games and if it wasnt for a fluke/gift of a goal wed be sitting here moaning about another loss.
If hughes is to play and to keep this formation he needs proper wing backs, and a decent centre forward who can bring others into play a crouch up grade, its pointless playing a formation if you havent got the personal to play it. Sick of watching and debating the same thing now its so simple to fix but hughes seems to make it hard

4 changed a winning side AGAIN, had no idea how to get the team attacking and the pace and intensity was wank AGAIN! Gouranga.

7 You would need a top strike force to get through that defence. With what is available to him I thought he did quite well.

7* The only main thing id change would be starting with Ramadan instead of cameron. No disrespect to Geoff I rate him but not as s right winger, he offers is little going forward and any potentual counter attack was always slowed down

Still insisted with starting with Shaqiri, instead of Ramadan yet Zouma created more and threatened west broms defence more all game than shaqiri did.
Subs were made too late, sat back from the second half and within 15 minutes of starting they had scored as we had sat so deep and no changes made.
First half the front 3 weren't working, Jese didn't get involved much and it needed someone like crouch to come on and hold up the play/ be an outlet.
would of been a 4 if it wasn't for a lucky west from mistake at the back.

We looked solid bar one moment of doziness by Zouma and Cameron.
But we still looked toothless. And starting Moting up front after last week was poor.
But his subs made a difference. Ramadan and Crouch picked our game up.

Personally think it pointless rating hughes
As we all know it's the one of the two games a year where nothing really matters and comes down to the coin toss of pulisball
I still can't work out how fucking Wigan used to paste us and the only time pulis would change tactics....any way guess it's West broms problem now
I digress but I am thankful to the football gods every day I don't have to see pulis ball away, west brom were that destructive and at home which is as good as it gets for them. Capped prick

I am having trouble rating Hughes because it's difficult to separate the tactics and the way he set us up, from the resources at his disposal. We seem to be showing signs that we are moving in the right direction, because we seem tighter at the back (The Shit game will be the real test). However, we are pretty clueless against teams that sit back and allow us to bring the game to them (Again The Shit game will be the big test - they are going to come at us like a freight train, so we'll have sit tight and hit them on the counter). Tactically I can't understand what he's thinking. He moves Shaq into the middle, which is right thing to do; however, he replaces him with Pieters instead of Sohbi who's a natural winger. WTF. Bringing on Crouch and hoofing worked so I suppose it was the right thing to do because it worked. But, bloody hell, is that as good as it gets.
Overall 5.

6 for me.
Should have played Sobhi from the start or at least bought him on earlier-especially after a decent game on Wednesday night.
Still little idea how to break down teams that set up to defend-but a point is a point.
