Not sure they are slating crouch. We shouldn't be relying on him to nick a point. Think that's what they're getting at, myself included.

There will be situations where Crouch will be very useful to have around.
Not sure why folk are so hung up about it.
It's not like we were passing our way through them.
Sobhi made a difference too.

I still think he will be our best choice over a season if we only count goals. Really hope we bring in a strong pacy targetman before the window shuts!

Still the only striker Hughes knows how to use.
Which is frightening.

If a problem persists then people will keep talking about it. I think he's entitled to that, it really is frightening that Hughes can only figure out how to utilize one striker, that is 36 years old.

In truth we didn't look like scoring, but, holy mackerel, West Brom are awful to watch!

I thought Choupo did ok there today. The only other striker who played today was Crouch and he scored from a massive mistake, so it mattered not that "he's the only striker he knows how to use".

Choupo not making the right runs and you can tell he's not a striker. Would much rather we shifted him on the wing swapping with Sobhi and then having money spent on wing-backs and a new striker. That would benefit our team. The Jese signing was very strange.

He did indeed become more influential out wide, but he wasn't poor up top for me.

It's a terrible problem with Crouch isn't it?
Since the Premier League brought in the rule that goals scored by over-35s only count for half, we've been well and truly fucked.

Not a striker. Nice touch but not physical and nothing in the air. An above average wide player

An above average wide player Don't you think its a bit daft to start a thread defending a player after people criticise him, to then go on and criticise another player in said thread? I thought Choupo was ok up top, yes I agree he isn't a natural striker. Not physical though? I thought no one could get the ball off him all afternoon.

The poor lads getting slated on Twatter and I say poor lad because I do think he's been hung out to dry up there so the manager can shoehorn everyone in.

I don't see it as relying on him to nick a point, I see it as mixing up tactics when things aren't going our way using the resources we have available. Pretty much any manager will do it. Teams need a plan B. But when that plan B involves throwing Crouch on to shake things up some people don't like it. I suppose their attitude is that we shouldn't have to do it - the game should be won without needing to. But in the real world it just doesn't work like that, and you have to use all the tools in your garage.

Tactically it was a stupid change and played to their strength, it came off we got lucky. Crouch was pretty ineffective apart from the goal which was a mammoth balls up between their CB and keeper. The fact that we scored and got a good point from the game doesn't make the switch in tactics well thought out, it wasn't.

9 goals in his last 20 premier league appearances that's some record. I'd like to see how many premier league stars have a better ratio than that. He must be worth 50 mill!

Tend to find its the usual dullards who keep their knives out for Crouch. 'Johnny in the spot' again,to put the ball into the net and rescue a point for Stoke.
