How many English players play regularly for the top six? Not that the top six is where all the talent necessarily resides obv.

Buto should deffo start. It's time. It's difficult to choose, Pickford has been excellent.

The lack of midfielders is frightening. There's no one really missing either is there? Loftus-Cheek. Tom Davies.

Why is Hart even in that list? Oh, I forgot - West ham. Andy Carroll must be injured or he'd be there too.

A first eleven of say Butland Walker Cahill Maguire Rose Dier Henderson Alli Vardy and Kane is reasonably strong but nowhere near good enough to challenge the top international teams. I genuinely fear that the national team is now on a par with the likes of Poland, Sweden and Austria. Long gone are the days of Euro 96, Italia 90 and 66. The lack of depth of English talent in the Premier league is woeful Our younger squads all did very well over the summer, winning the U20 world cup, winning the toulon cup, the U21's got beat in the semi finals on penalties by Germany, give it a year or so and hopefully some of these players should start to break through to the senior squad

They did look good in the summer however they also rely on premier league clubs nurturing them. Unfortunately the big clubs rely more on big money signings then bringing through players of quality through the youth system due to the high pressure from owners. This leads to the players dropping down the leagues or rotting in reserves. Few players will take pay cuts to leave the big clubs so their development falters
