What a strange day that was. There were pockets of Man City fans, sat in different parts of the ground among the Stoke fans. The match was a sell out and some City fans that couldn't get tickets in the away end managed to acquire them in ours. Every now and then a group of them would charge across the pitch in a bid to get to their own end before the stewards or police could nab them. There would be spontaneous fights around the ground as City fans were outed either by their accents or cheers. From time to time you'd see someone literally thrown a out of their seats by Stoke fans, I remember one guy in the east stand being launched over a few rows! Man City fans literally driving down the wrong side of the road near the incinerator/Michelin to get away from the baying mobs, it was like Keystone Cops.... Didn't see it myself but there was even reports of a burnt out car or two on the road down to the Mitch. Don't know if this was true or just hearsay as I didn't head that way after the game.

They got relegated a few times. Once they went down to the third tier. On their relegation day to the third tier they played another team about to be relegated who are now in the Premier League. From time to time you'd see someone literally thrown a out of their seats by Stoke fans, I remember one guy in the east stand being launched over a few rows! I wonder what those fans, the ones that risked getting thrown a few rows in order to see their team play in the 2nd tier, think of the riches. On one hand the club has experienced glory beyond their wildest imaginations. On the other hand it must sometimes feel like it's not their club anymore.

The room at the Etihad Stadium is decorated with the latest must-haves in Fashion, Food and Beauty, with experts on hand to guide you through the day. Choose from a wine masterclass, a personal shopper or even pampering treatments to add an unconventional element to your football hospitality experience, as you watch the excitement of the match from your own private balcony.

I know at least a couple of City fans that would happily go back to the days of scrapping it out in the second tier. They enjoyed the title wins and the fa cup but they, like many of us have become somewhat disillusioned with modern day football and what it brings. Man City have always had a decent following but the Etihad has been expanded beyond the capacity of your typical match going city fans. They have a significant number of day-trippers at most matches. Tourists with no real affiliation to the club. The atmosphere gets diluted and prices go up to reflect the bulging wallets of these tourists.

Its not just the glory moments is it though it fairly constant just in the calibre of player they get to watch week in week out playing good football too certainly under the last 2 managers. Also you have to recognise that playing in the second or third tier actually does nothing whatsoever to dull your enthusiasm its almost like you become blind to the lack of quality. I don't think I'd feel any different but thats just me I've no real allegiance to the ownership anyway, I know for some it seems to be a massive issue but to me Peter Coates Bet365 have more in common with Abramovic and the Sheik than they do with me.

I chose to forget that part! We were woeful. After their fourth or fifth didn't Peter Thorne just belt one of the kick offs straight at goal. Or was that the seven nil home defeat to Birmingham? Some of the wilderness years just seem to merge together as one!

The years prior to 2008 were in some places, too painful to recall... They were character building years. I wouldn't have swapped them for anything looking back. Even the worst times. I'd hate to be a United fan and know nothing but success, they're like spoilt children, they never appreciate it. I'm convinced seeing Stoke win the Carabao cup, would mean more to me than a champions league win would mean to most united fans.

It's a pretty cool experience, but at that price, you have to be absolutely loaded to look through a bit of glass at the same players you see on the pitch.

For those of you with very long memories. We did have our own version of The Tunnel many years before the champagne and prawn cocktail brigade at Maine Rd.. It was in The Boothen end just in front of the centre tunnel. I still have the evidence tattoed on my arm to this day It too was a rather select "club".

As a one off event for a corporate day out I'd go if Stoke had one
But to pay for a season ticket is rediculous

Whats cool about looking at some blokes standing about? It's a different experience than the common person's match day. You're closer to the players, you're part of a fancy club where you can brag to your other wealthy friends, and I guess people like to feel closer to the players? Something for people with more money than sense I'd imagine. Still pretty cool though.

Stoke fighting each other thinking each group was Mancs. Before the game, groups of them sitting drinking beer on the car park. Didn't last long. There were "interventions". Saw plenty of cars smashed up along Campbell Road area. A few took a good kicking. An undercover copper got beaten senseless by the mob. Horrible day, even before the game.

I came to that game straight from stopping over after a wedding in Brum where I had had one, okay several, too many and had to sit in the ground with a bucket in front of me in case my throwing up continued. Not my finest hour, but the team managed to plumb even greater depths in a performance of such staggering ineptitude the likes of which the modern day JCL could simply not fathom.

Well, you don't have to be intelligent to be wealthy. If you were offered a free game in a tunnel club, Real Madrid vs Barcelona, would it not interest you at all?

I'd take it off your hands and see if I could sell it or raffle it to charity. Good point most people I know with serious money are thick as fuck.

I just don't get it. If you got to meet them before or after the game I'd get it. Probably wouldn't want to do it but I'd get it but paying to look at people, blokes at that is just beyond me.
