I am assuming that the NBC Sports Gold app will offer the same features as the basic NBC Sports app, which means you can watch replays at any time. This mean you don't need to record and you can watch them on the road. Does anyone know if this is true?

No-one has mentioned that matches on TV networks will not be streamed. For eg if Stoke v Chelsea is on NBC and you've only got access to a laptop etc, you can't see it as your cable or satellite subscription won't cover it. Comcast (who own NBC) are worried that subscribers will 'cut the cord'. Capitalism has people over a barrel and can charge for 'choice'. Horrible in my opinion, but I'll be handing over my $50. If you have a tablet or phone you can watch it through the NBC Sports app. I have a Chromecast gadget and use that to project it to a bigger screen. Love me some Chromecast. I hope CBS show the SEC game of the week this year on their app, it works with Chromecast. I will go in a rampage if they've stopped that service. Roll Tide.

I have yet to drop the $50. I have DirecTv and the games used to be on channels 790 - 799. Where are they now? I flicked through most channels on Saturday when the games were on but couldn't find anything.
Or is it that you can only see the none televised games online? Apologies for being too lazy to read up about this kind of stuff...

Yes Mason-Stokie, Televised matched will not be available online. Go Boks. I just made an objective comment about capitalism. It does create demands and then exploits them. Some obvious value but many downsides, Comcast baiting and switching is pretty small beer of course. Wait for the end of net neutrality and see if you still like the effects of that. Meantime lets agree to hope we can turn over WBA.

Looks like NBC Sports caught their mistake and moved Stoke/WBA to streaming only this weekend--no longer on CNBC as far as I can tell. So, I finally dropped my 50 bucks to watch. The annoying thing is that while I'll most likely renew the PL package every year, NBC Sport Gold is set to auto-renew without giving me the choice. They should let me opt-in if I wish to auto-renew. This type of thing always raises red flags to me. After reading the FAQs, I suggest you contact them now to cancel. I doesn't cancel your subscription for this season (there is no way to do that), but it prevents the auto renewal. Getting auto renewed could be a problem if they decide to raise rates next season and you overlook the email saying they are about to auto renew.

I'm in Los Angeles atm and my hotel room has NBC, NBCSN but no NBC Gold. I have an iPhone and fly back to the UK on Sunday evening. Is there a way I can watch the game or will I have to try the stream thread?

The Premier League app still shows the game as being on CNBC which your hotel room should have. It's probably a mistake, but who knows?

CNBC did show that the Stoke game would be played when I set it up to record......my cable guide now shows that they will be broadcasting the Chelsea-Everton game.

Thanks, I had already figured out I can email their support team to cancel the auto renewal--along with my opinion on not giving us a choice in the first place (not that it will do any good other than make me feel better). Yeah, I'm figuring they'll up the subscription to around $79.99 or so next year and then finally settle on $119.99 a couple years down the road which seems on par with the other streaming sports packages (or change to a monthy rate like Bien Sports and charge even more). Of course if I were an MU or Chelsea fan I wouldn't even bother since they're on TV every weekend anyway. Also noticed that the Spurs game this weekend appears to be Gold only now, so just proves NBC Sports is working their broadcast vs. streaming options to maximize their return for the product. I can't blame them, it is a business. Good news is that my "need" for cable is quickly becoming less and less--not sure why I'm still keeping it other than for the random non-streamable shows/sports.

Sorry to bring up an old(ish) thread but how do you sign up to NBC Gold etc in the UK. I have tried to use a VPN but the packages still don't seem to be available for purchase.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry to go off topic, but do any of you US Stokies know of a sports bar in New York that has a Stoke City theme or is run by some ex Stokies? I've been told there is but can't find anything on Google!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Which VPN are you using? NBC is pretty up to speed with VPN detection so it might flag what you're doing. My recommendation is NordVPN (I think I pay 6 quid a month but you get a free trial to begin with). It's been a savior for me when I'm trying to watch the game in other countries. Hope that helps mar mate.

I've been told there is but can't find anything on Google! Legends in Manhattan is a good little Premier League boozer. They show every game so there's a mixture of British expats and "soccer" fans. Not very Stoke focused but NYC isn't exactly a hub for our foreign fan base...

Unable to create an accounts this morning along with 1,000s of others. Ultimately a handful of die-hard fans will pay for it - but this can't possibly offset the revenue derived from ads that used to be aired on the Extra cable channels. Added to the insult that I'm already paying for NBC Sports via my exorbitant cable bill. NBC Sports just went from 1st to last.. EPL was really growing the US, no chance now. It will remain a niche sports followed by those who interests are global not myopic. NBC sports is likely run by a middle aged mid-westerner wearing a polo shirt and dockers who spends the weekend shouting.. in the hole.

Got an e-mail from NBC Sports stating: "We experienced intermittent technical issues over the past two weekends on NBC Sports Gold. Like you, we’re major fans of Premier League and our aim is to bring you the best experience possible. We haven’t done that. We are working to resolve the issues. We’ll spare you the specific technical challenges we’ve faced and get right to the point. If you are a subscriber who has been impacted by these technical issues, please contact us at support@nbcsportsgold.com with the words Sat Sept. 23 Issue in the subject line. We will work with you individually to offer the appropriate solution. We apologize for the disruptions and inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding as we continue to look for new ways to bring you the best sports content in the world. The NBC Sports Gold Team" A good start would be to refund 2/38th of the $49.99 to every subscriber. Yeah I know they wouldn't ever dream of doing something like that outright and $2 plus change ain't much, but it would be a good faith move none-the-less.

I replied to their email, having attempted to watch the Swans match whilst recording ours on network. After much nonsense and frustration (eg login to nothing, 'you're not a subscriber' messages etc) got around the last 20 mins or so. NBC got back to me, offering either cancellation and a full refund or a $10 credit (whatever that means). I recommend everyone replying and at least recovering something.

They take the workers co-operative that is the Premier League where players come from all over the world to play for just their expenses and sully it by trying to make money out of it. And they don't pay a penny for the rights. Just tramping over the working man.

Okay, I got it a few days ago. The Stoke game was listed as being non-Gold on the Premier League official app, but the day before they changed it to Gold and put another game on non-Gold. That happened earlier this season too. The Stoke game was scheduled to be on regular TV on the CNBC channel, but then the day before they switched to the Chelsea-Everton game and made the Stoke game only available with Gold. Although I haven't tried it, I think if you have more than one tablet/phone you can simultaneously watch a non-Gold game and a Gold game as they are two different apps. By the way, I arrived on this board a neutral, but when they asked me upon registering to indicate my favorite team, I selected Stoke

As long as you have any regular Tv provider you can get about 100 PL games. The main matches are shown on the various NBC channels: NBCSN, MSNBC, NBC etc. The other 138 games are shown on NBC Sports Gold, which requires a separate subscription ($70 at the start of the season but probably less nowP You don’t need a TV provider to watch NBC Sports gold and you can use any device, laptop, iPad, iPhone, SmartTV, Apple TV and so on. They also show replays if you miss a game at the regularly scheduled time. You can watch several games at once if you are so inclined You do need a regular TV provider to watch the nonNBC sports Gold on your device.
