How many of those in the United States have subscribed to NBC Gold? I'm debating whether to get it.
$50 for the entire season seems a good deal to get every Premier League match. On the other hand, about half of them are already available for free if you have a regular cable subscription. I'm not sure if it'll be worth it to pay for access to hundreds of games I won't watch.

with 36 games left it would be £1.36 to watch every Stoke City game, definitely worth it.

I'd be paying for access to games like Palace versus Watford. On the other hand, they moved Spurs/Burnley next week to Gold. I wonder if they'll increasingly put big teams on Gold to get more people to subscribe. As a result I can't really estimate how many Stoke games will require Gold. Neither of the games so far have.

You have access to every Premier League match with every team - all 380 matches. It's just that some matches require Gold.

Like a said in another thread, you can basically count on at least a dozen games of Stoke on TV (2 times each vs: Chelsea, Spurs, MU, MC, Liverpool, Arsenal) with some other ones thrown in as we've already seen like last week. WBA is apparently also on TV next week, but I believe Stoke goes back to streaming only after the MU match which now mean NBC Gold at $50. Also, NBC shows every PL match in the last week of the season so call it 14-15 games aired on TV which leave 23-24 games at around $2 a shot, which I believe is worth it. However, the skeptic in me is figuring that NBC will try to milk it and start restricting TV coverage at some point, maybe not this year, but somewhere down the road.
Now if $50 would also get NBC Sports to stop showing the same three or so commercials over and over and over and over and over again...

This season each time I've gotten the Kia clearance sale commercial before the game and the GEICO sloth commercial at halftime. Last season it was always the Chevrolet commercial where they open the doors and reveal the awards Chevrolet has won.

I've never not been able to get a Stoke game or any other premier league game via the nbc sports app ( with DIRECTV subscription). Not sure what Gold offers?

I've never not been able to get a Stoke game or any other premier league game via the nbc sports app ( with DIRECTV subscription). Not sure what Gold offers? Starting this season about half the Premier League games - fewer for big teams, more for small teams - will only be available through Gold. The games next week that require a Gold subscription are Crystal Palace/Swansea Huddersfield/Southampton Newcastle/West Ham Watford/Brighton Tottenham/Burnley

I got it, gots to have them smaller team matches. $50 dollars isn't that bad but it is how everything is going, subscription from provider.

It would surely be worth $50 to rest assured in the knowledge you can watch every Stoke league game. And any other game for that matter.

Can you pay using Paypal? Thinking that if I were to use a VPN to spoof an IP in the US, then I'd be able to watch from here?

Say 1 Stoke game is only on PPV. How much would you be willing to pay? $20? So if just 3 put of 36 are available only on gold, it's worth it!

Sort of counter-intuitive if you ask me. Big teams = more fans = higher revenues. I guess they've worked out that plastic fans are only there for glory and if they have to pay $2 a game, they'd rather get their glory by watching the New England patriots or something whereas Stokies would probably pay $20 per match for the whole season if that was the only way we could watch Stoke

NBC coverage over the last couple of seasons has been superb, so was not happy when they made a host of changes for this season. The way it was initially explained, it seemed like there was no way of accessing every game, but that's not the case. They've made it far more confusing than it needed to be. Having said that, I still forked over the extra $50 and it's absolutely worth it. They have vastly reduced the number of games that are being broadcast on the cable channels and those are mostly going to feature the top six sides, so our games against the likes of Burnley, Brighton and anyone else that doesn't have a leagion of America fans will only be available via the Gold pass. If you want to be guaranteed of seeing every Stoke game, the Gold subscription is the only option and is well worth $50 per year.

NBC had to monetize their online package at some point. All major American leagues do. It was great for 4 seasons of being able to watch every match with a basic cable subscription. It is annoying that it will now cost an extra $50 but I suppose I'll pay.
I did not like that they insulted our intelligence by advertising it as a good thing when it first was announced.

A couple years ago it was Doogie Houser pushing Heineken with what seemed like every minute.

That commercial makes a lot more sense when you understand he grew up to be Barney Stinson. 😁

No-one has mentioned that matches on TV networks will not be streamed. For eg if Stoke v Chelsea is on NBC and you've only got access to a laptop etc, you can't see it as your cable or satellite subscription won't cover it. Comcast (who own NBC) are worried that subscribers will 'cut the cord'. Capitalism has people over a barrel and can charge for 'choice'. Horrible in my opinion, but I'll be handing over my $50.

It really has. I was in San Diego for a week and the hotel cable didn't offer NBCSN, but there was the Stoke-Everton game on CNBC. Back home, the Stoke-Arse game was on. Two weeks into the season, two Stoke games on regular cable. No complaints. Didn't know that there was a change. I'll try and watch non-broadcast Stoke games on the laptop and see how this season goes......can always throw more money at the telly next year. Compared to years gone by, I feel like I'm living in The Golden Age of Footie.
Curious, are those of you posting mostly from the UK, living in the US or are you Yanks that follow Stoke City? Half of my DNA is from Stone.....many coach trips to see Stoke and Vale.

Looks like NBC Sports caught their mistake and moved Stoke/WBA to streaming only this weekend--no longer on CNBC as far as I can tell. So, I finally dropped my 50 bucks to watch. The annoying thing is that while I'll most likely renew the PL package every year, NBC Sport Gold is set to auto-renew without giving me the choice. They should let me opt-in if I wish to auto-renew. This type of thing always raises red flags to me.

This type of thing always raises red flags to me. For these auto renewal things, and for many other online purchases, I use a "virtual card number" that's offered as a feature of both my Mastercard and Visa. It gives you a number that isn't your actual card number. It usually expires in a few months, but you can deactivate the number right after the transaction posts. One of my cards also allows you to set a money limit for the virtual card number. Because the virtual card number has been deactivated when it's supposed to auto renew, it's impossible for the company to successfully charge your card again. I started using virtual numbers after my card number was hijacked and used to buy $3000 worth of stuff from the Lenovo store.

If $50 doesn't pinch too much, do it. Been a no brainer and worth the money. When Stoke FC matches aren't available, even Rochdale, I get edgy and my wife worries I'm losing my mind. Save your marriage, pay the money and all is well. Also, this year is already more exciting than last half of last season. Can't afford to miss any Stoke City glory.

From what I can tell you need NBC Gold to watch the matches that are not televised on NBC or NBCSN. NBC Live Extra, which used to show the games not on the main channels was available for an additional fee, is not longer available.. I am about to dump Directv and switch to our local Internet Provider which provides TV from their fiber. The cost is $71.95 a month instead of $151 for Directv, plus $49.95 a year for NBC Gold. Stoke vs. WBA is on NBC Gold so you'll need it anyway even if you stick with your main TV provider. They claim you may be able to watch outside the US but I haven't looked into that further. I suspect it will be blocked in the UK.
