We could have won the game without the midfield. They both worked hard but due to the nature of the formation they both got pulled about a lot. Allen also did his pressing on his bollocks up front despite us being overrun down with just the two of them. Fletcher was very vocal and kept the shape a lot better but lost the ball too much when he shouldn't have done. But his forward passing made a difference in there. He's a very intelligent footballer. The midfield were my biggest issue from the game tbh but they were up against it. They were outnumbered and actually ignoring them attacking wise worked. Trick is,at the right times, for the wing backs to tuck in making it a midfield four. Or for one of the back three to join in with play. Requires intelligence and fitness as well as discipline. Hard to get right. It is and we played with a flat back 5 for most of the game.

Net spend. Buy some forks for the canteen and spend 12m on them. That increases the net spend. Sometimes I think it would make people happier because they are obsessed with spending stacks of money. At the expense of other fruitful methods. No way to fall about the chairman you ungrateful chaps it was Mr Coates , sir Peter to you who said in the summer , " net spend is the key " Ok, I'm going to try this again (3rd time lucky!). You are twisting what Coates said, completely. Listen back to the conversation he was having. The presenter used Everton as an example of a club that were spending a lot of money. Coates then responded by saying look at the net spending because what they'd thrown away in transfer fees would be offset by the sale of players. It was NOT about net spending being an indicator of success, but about the importance of clubs not over-extending and crippling themselves. And, again, the important thing is squad quality and balance, not about the money you spend on transfer fees. Please stop with this obsession.

Be interesting to see how it works when we are trying to break sides down at home.

Fletcher was brilliant yesterday.
He's absolutely what we've been crying out for.
He was so positive and drove us on many times.
He completely surprised me.
I wasn't expecting that from him.

Really? He's done that at Albion for three years. To be fair it's difficult to pay attention watching Albion.

I just had this predetermined idea about him. I was wrong.

Pretty decent free kick on him too. Didn't try to be too fancy, so they didn't end up hitting the wall or ending in row z.

He was very impressive. Interceptions galore, good ball winning and overall excellent on the ball. Class above what we've been used to.
