Getting to be a rare thing in teams nowadays Not many in the prem now? Shawcross ...respect You maybe slightly delusional the only reason shawcross has been at Stoke so long is down to the fact that nobody who has wanted him him can match what Stoke are paying him There is no such thing as player loyalty anymore

Nonsense - show me one player who has turned down a better contract at another club because he had 'loyalty'? It's pure coincidence. This day & age at this level of football if a player stays at one club (unless born & bred - very rare) it is because their needs & circumstances have luckily been mutual.

Pottermus is just about the only 1 clubber I can think of. Thing is nowadays it is so hard to break through at a big club that youngsters at these teams tend to have to move on to get first team football. Players at a lower club (Stoke) who are performing well will naturally attract the big boys and unless they have exceptional ties to the club/area then naturally they will want to move to a bigger club to make sure they fulfill their ambition, or at least try too.
I simply couldn't see Neville *2, Beckham or Scholes breaking through at Man Utd now. Mourinho would rather spunk £50m on the latest European boy wonder than trust his own (free!) youth players

It's not as simple as one club loyalty is it? Look at players who move on for first-team football for a start - Barry is a good example today - moving from Everton to West Brom on a 1-year deal, when apparently Everton had offered him 2 years, but wouldn't guarantee him starts.

Le Tissier had opportunity to go to Chelsea. Gerrard also turned Chelsea down. It is very very rare though.

Steve Bull. No-one comes close in terms of one club loyalty... Apart from starting his career at their arch rivals WBA.

One club loyalty means they never got the transfer they wanted.

Steve Bull. No-one comes close in terms of one club loyalty... Matt Le Tissier Only ever got 8 England caps, was that because we had a wealth of players then, or was he just not fancied by the Manager, bit like Bruce and Pallister, arguably one of the best defensive pairings ( though not necessarily individual) of their time, and you need defenders that know each other, staggering Bruce NEVER played for England, and Pallister 22 caps...

Steve Bull. No-one comes close in terms of one club loyalty... Eric Skeels leaves him standing GD. Most players, even when they have spent most of their career at one club, will play a handful of games for other teams....Steve Bull also played for Baggies and Hereford and Eric had a short spell in the States and came back and played at Vale for handful of games. Steven Gerrard payed for LA Galaxy.

I didn't realise Bruce never played for England. The BBC have a select your best all-time Premier League team poll at the moment, and Matt le Tissier isn't an option. He was the first player I looked for, so when he wasn't there I quit. Crouch's goal vs Man City wasn't an option in the vote for best goals either.
