The voice of football now for so long, really can't make my mind up.I always think a ref and commentator are only good when you don't know they are their. But he keeps mentioning United going top of the league even since 1-0 on alphabetic order if they score another 2.For me personally getting too biased towards the top end of the league clubs.

Yeah, he's very on-brand and revels in the 'narrative' - which usually means the big clubs doing well. He was audibly gutted when Leicester scored against Arsenal, it was ruining his party.

I still can't believe he survived that Aguero title winning goal.

I still can't believe he survived that Aguero title winning goal. I'm sure you will know without me having to Wikipedia it but was he working for ITV on the night Arsenal won 0-2 at Liverpool in 1989 to win the League.Starting to grate me now in his commentating.

All about opinions but for me he's absolutely awful.
The guys who do the Spanish games are much better - again my opinion.
Commentary on the whole in Sky football is pretty poor however their cricket coverage is utterly brilliant whether you like the sport or not.

I conna stand him. When someone from an unfashionable club goes through on goal he can barely be arsed to raise his voice, and sometimes you can hear the disappointment when they score. If it's a Man Utd/Liverpool player in particular who's through on goal, Jesus, your TV speakers almost blow up he starts shouting & screaming & cheering so loud. (Although it's not limited to him, it's all the commentators)

I find him really annoying. Agreed.Tyler doesn't quite make me want to kick the TV in in the way that Jonathan Pearce or Clive Tyldesley do,but he's getting there. Modern Football commentators are largely the same; always ruining games by striving for their Kenneth Wolstenholme moment. The peerless Richie Benaud for Cricket and Barry Davies for footy are probably the only commentators i've ever genuinely enjoyed listening to, because they augmented the ebb and flow of their respective sports, yet they had styles that could be almost minimalistic at times.

Always thought he's the best however that big club bias / sucking up to 1 player is defo coming in more and more.

I''ve always thought he was very biased towards the big clubs and players. His excitement or enthusiasm during his commentary definitely changes when the big players get the ball in shooting distance of goal as if he's already thinking of making the highlights sound as exciting as possible. If it's a smaller club there is either little or no increase in his excitement or as has been said, what almost sounds like disappointment, but when a big name player gets the ball he's almost shouting with excitement. I think he is biased but maybe he's also just following Sky directives to suck up to the big clubs and players.
Either way I don't like him.

John Motson will always be my fav football commentator. But Tyler's Aguero commentary is iconic, and will stick in my mind forever...

It's a good job we don't get to see them commentating, especially when the top sides are on the attack, and they have their hand down their trousers, playing with their willie winkies.

All about opinions, as said earlier, and as I no longer have Sky Sports I haven't heard Tyler for a while, but personally my favourite is the BBCs Steve Wilson who - for me - manages to inject some humour into his commentaries

Haven't heard the Sky cricket for some time, but if it's still the utter ego-fest competing trio of Botham, Gower and Hussain then I cannot disagree with you more ! Continually about "how they would do it if they were out on the pitch in their glory days" rather than what is actually happening

He used to be ok but a few years ago wasn't there rumblings he was going to lose his job, this was when Andy Gray was still commentating? Since then he's really been on message and like the rest of them every game is fucking brilliant!

Continually about "how they would do it if they were out on the pitch in their glory days" rather than what is actually happening There is still an element of that but it usually followed by an understanding that it's completely different when in the commentary box. Personally I think the incorporation of 5+ ex-england captains off set with Michael Holding and then a country legend of the travelling team (Pollock, Warne) etc is fantastic as they all have a full understanding of all aspects of the game. I also think the promotion of the women's game has been fantastic and has been done with complete respect to their profession. Throw in the masterclass sessions that they run for the youngsters who watch and I think their coverage is pretty much second to none. But as I say it is all about opinions.
