So going off the last page or so's posts (Back 3 all need to play, Shaqiri must play, Jesé is deffo left side, we told Choup he'd be playing etc...) It seems that our team for Arsenal will be... Butland; Zouma, Shawcross, Indi; Diouf, Allen, Fletcher, Pieters; Shaqiri, Jesé; Choupo. Would everyone be happy with that? Yes. Drop the problem child. Where on earth is the evidence that Choupo is a main striker? His goalscoring record is nearly as bad as Berahino's(sorry I exaggerated nobody's is as bad as his).

That is shoe horning all the new talent into the team, true, but where is the natural goal scorer? I reckon Jese will start on the bench on Saturday. In the longer term, I see a new striker coming in and Jese/Choupo rotating as Shaq's partner (or both playing when the inevitable happens and Shaq's piano wire leg muscles give in again) unless we revert to 4-2-3-1. I do fear for Bojan's future at the club.

I guess it's going to end up looking something like this:
Butland
Zouma Shawcross Bruno
Diouf Allen Fletcher Pieters
Shaqiri Jesse
NEW TARGET MAN
Grant, Cameron, Berahino, Choupo, Adam, Tymon, Crouch
Can't even find a place for Ramadan or Bojan on the bench, we are so overloaded in that position now.
I'd agree that is his most likely preferred starting XI, although I'd have Ramadan on the bench ahead of Tymon and it is a toss up for me between Bojan and Saido.

Yeah I'm convinced (as I said earlier) that Hughes will play him on the left - it's his best position. So Paul the hope then is to use Sobhi as a LWB and Maxim up top? From what I saw at Everton I would say that thatbhe has enough presence to play in that position for us.
No mate, as I said on the previous page, I think the plan is to bring in a new target man and I can't see how Ramadan will even make the bench if everybody is fit.

All that points up is how many players of a similar nature we have.

[/quote] My thinking exactly! Pieters got in some good positions last week, simply because at times we had a man over. If that man was Ramadan on the left rather than Eric... we'd be so... so much more dangerous

That would leave us with four forward players on the bench and only one defender Jez.
I'd like to see Pieters replace Tymon on the bench and a proper left wing back come in.
I just can't see how Ramadan gets on the bench now.

Personally I can see us going for something like:
GK - Butland CB - Zouma CB - Shawcross CB - Bruno RWB - Diouf CM - Cameron CM - Fletcher CM - Allen LM - Ramdan RW - Shaqiri LW - Moting CAM - Jese CF - Berahino

I am all for "impact subs" who are meant to try to change a game. Yes, it is risky, but we have players who can play in a few positions, like Cameron, and if Pieters was injured, we could go to a flat back four with Bruno in there at left back or have Ramadan at left wing back. As for a new left full/wing back, I so agree. I am not sure how on earth they thought the Tymon signing would do the trick given his youth and inexperience. He is at least one year, if not two years, away from properly challenging for a regular first team spot.

You would think that signals the end of Bojan's Stoke career, Paul, and you haven't mentioned Imbula, who must also be off. I'm not sure MH can afford to effectively bin Imbula and Berahino (as well as Bony, Jos and Wolly) though. Surely that would raise eyebrows upstairs?

He's already binned Imbula though hasn't he? And yes Bojan's Stoke career must be over, that's evident by the new players that are being brought to the club.
I'm surprised eyebrows weren't raised a long time ago Okey but hey, it's their club.

Judging by some of the line-ups on this page I think I've solved it...
Butland, Grant; Johson, Zouma, Shawcross, Indi, Tymon; Diouf, Cameron, Allen, Adam, Fletcher, Pieters; Shaqiri, Bojan, Choup, Jesé, Sobhi; Berahino, Crouch.
What do we reckon?

Bloody hell yeah, nobody is mentioning Bojan at all (I wouldn't consider him either in fairness). It also looks increasingly unlikely that Ramadan is going to get much game time unless Hughes goes balls out and plays him LWB or RWB on occasion.
I'm all for having options and I think there's plenty of opportunity for something to work but I just hope Hughes doesn't arse around with it by chopping and changing every week or every half of every game.
He needs now to have his favoured formation layed out and an idea of how to give them all good game time. He can't expect to keep bringing the same guy on 15 minutes from time, expecting him to do something.

He'll likely play in the cups to rest other players. He has to prove himself, like everyone else.

I guess he's been lucky that Premier League hyperinflation sweetens the pill. They've cashed in on Arnie and got fees for some of the old guard. He's done pretty well on Joselu. If Allen goes to The Jacks it looks like he'll double his money in a year. Heaven only knows what Jack and Shaq are now worth. But the pressure is on for Bera and Hughesy. Their futures seem interlinked. He can't surely ditch another striker he's actively chased after less than 20 games?
