With the first game looming, where is recommended to drink before the Everton game?
Liverpool obviously doesn't lack pubs, but anyone recommend where we will be drinking.......

Get yourself down Matthews Street where the Carvern club is. Some cracking pubs there. The Rubber Soul is usually packed with Stokies and is always bouncing.

There's a turkish joint called Shiraz on North John Street near the Cavern that does a cracking full English. If you're there nearer lunch the kebabs are ace.

If anyone fancies a different breakfast to English then head for Moose Coffee on Dale St. It's top notch American B'fast and highly recommended. Also not too many bars in Mathew St show Sky so if you want the lunchtime game stay around the 'Top of Town' a couple of minutes from Lime St is Gt Charlotte St and Ranelagh St quite a few bars show the footy. The Irish bar on Ranelagh have large screens and live music.

Matthew Street is for generally for tourists so that is 'Happy Days' for most people. Having lived in the city almost 30 years, my visits to Matthew Street for a day or night out have been limited to about 3 or 4 occasions in the last 25 years. For me it's an abomination! Can't believe we are 20 posts into this thread and no one has yet mentioned the Ship and Mitre on Dale Street.(10 mins from Lime Street). If you want a breakfast, a Wetherpoons is probably your best bet. The Lime Kiln, is a good shout but you'll probably walk past 3 or 4 other 'spoons to get to it. Pubs to recommend for evening beverages include The Dispensary on Renshaw Street, The Grapes on Roscoe Street, The Black Lodge on Kitchen Street, or Hooley's if you want somewhere a bit more lively.
