I have no faith in the current management team. I'm sure knowing this will keep Uncle Peter up all night, worrying that you have no faith in the current management team, no doubt he will call an emergency board meeting first thing tomorrow morning, and put the wheels in motion to sack the said management team.

As with all managers it will come down to results . Fear of relegation , the fans turning on him are the usual indicators . I'm not sure he can afford many more abject home surrenders myself .

The key question is 'what has changed' ?
Hughes has been under pressure for 18 month from a results / performance perspective
We now have arguably a weaker squad and others have strengthened - the top teams considerably.
With our start it would actually be stupid and / or naive to say he isn't going to be under significant pressure - my personal view is that because he knows he is lucky to have a job he has failed to push hard to enough to secure the funds / personnel required and will likely pay the price in the medium term.

What outsiders never realise is just how loyal PC is to his managers. He would never fire Hughes after a dodgy start - last season proved that. If Hughes goes, it will be because of another season like the last one, and then it will be at the end of the season, like TP's demise. But I am confident we will have a better season thatn last. We will be younger, faster and less predictable. There will be at least one big signing before the season starts, and other rabbits out of hats before the end of August.
You only have to listen to comments about us by other clubs' fans on phone-ins to know that the rest of the country knows fuck all about Stoke City and how we work. Fuck them. We are Stoke and we will have the last laugh.

Was it Hughes's first full season he didn't finish in top half last season? Coupled with our hard fixtures at start, are the media predicting we get low points from them, which puts pressure on the team and manager. Southampton fixture onwards could possibly be make or break for Mark. Can't see Peter sacking his first choice too early, Mark will get till Christmas if things ain't going good.

I'm more optimistic than last year when we really had some awful friendlies before the season started. The Leipzig game shows we're not as bad as many people think. I still believe we'll improve from last year's 12th place. GO ON STOKE!

Having Jack, Shawcross, Zouma and Fletcher will make us a more solid unit than we were at the start of last season. Im calling: Everton: L Arsenal: D West Brom: W Man UTD: D Newcastle: W Chelsea: L Southampton: W Thats 11 points from 7 rather than 3 like last year Everton: L Arsenal: L West Brom: L Man UTD: L Newcastle: W Chelsea: L Southampton: D I see 4 points from this.. no way are we beating wba away from home.

The perfect barometer of our forthcoming season is WBA away. A club I used to respect have become dispicable scumbags managed by a vindictive and not very nice person. I hope we stuff them. We are more than capable, but they may again cheat a result.

major shake up this season, we will have some poor games and some good uns, but the owner wants to stay where we are and so does MH. Maybe there may be 2 ic change or specialist coach swap. With a few younger players coming in we should be quicker and it is hard to see long term players go, but to stay up we must try to up date with younger and senior players that are still able to fit the game plan for our clubs future.

We were absolutely dreadful that day, we can only blame ourselves.

How ridiculous to suggest that beating WBA aways is too tall an order. Everyone seems to have us down for a loss on the opening day vs Everton and some even expecting us to get a hiding. Seems to me they're basing their judgement on transfer activity rather than football as Everton so far post Lukaku don't look very threatening or fluent.

Has this been mentioned at all?
Even as someone who wants Hughes gone this surprises me for a few reasons.
Coates wouldn't do it.
And that people have actually bet on it.
Tone is 10/1 on SkyBet. Worth a pound I hope!

This is for the first manager to leave rather than the first manager to be sacked. That is a crucial difference as some though that Hughes may get fed up and walk. I don't think Coates would sack him before mid November at the earliest,he is not a trigger happy chairman. Benitez would be a good bet. I think the first manager to be sacked will be either Bilic or Pulis. If West Ham start slowly then Bilic will be under a lot of pressure. Meanwhile Pulis is unpopular with a lot of WBA fans and when a club is taken over it usually isn't long before the new owners change the manager. If WBA start this season like they finished last then Pulis will be very vulnerable.

Not a chance he will be the first. No I don't think so either. I'd love to know what the reasoning behind it is though.
