The treatment of the people in loads of places we invaded in the past was shocking and embarrassing. People (rightly) complain about individual suicide bombers/stabbings/nut jobs killing a couple of innocent people here but then wrongly use it to blame all Muslims everywhere. Fortunately i am not accused of the murders and rapes of our colonial past or the legacy it has left when we divided up the land which has led to how many civil wars and problems since? The Brits have a checkered history of how we treat people. And we invaded entire nations to try and force our way of life on them. Imagine if an army of muslims or anyone else tried that here? Think how angry you would be? We left many of those nations in an awful state with civil wars still breaking out now. Sudan is a good example of how we divided up the land with no proper thought or consideration.

France, Russia, Germany have had a past similar to ours. Islam has a past which was similar too , luckily for Europe the Crusaders stopped it on the continent. When Spain -Andalusia was Islamic they raped and pillaged locals similar to British. The first evidence of slavery came from the Islamic invasion of southern Spain when Muslisms enslaved the Natives and made them pay Jizya - a tax for being non muslim. I suppose this day and age we have developed to know whats right and wrong and if we think something is wrong the public hopefully gets a say eg protests in a democratic way.

A special mention has to be made for the Belgians in the Congo. Estimates run as high as 15 million for the reduction in population as a result of Belgian involvement in the Congo Free State. And this was barely 100 years ago.

No country with a history on the world stage has an unblemished track record. The atrocities committed by both sides (Pakistan then part of India) at the mutiny of Cawnpore in 57 were particularly beyond the pale

But sadly it doesn't play out. Our weapons sold to Saudi are being used in Yemen against civilians. The government are a disgrace for supporting this.

We should not be giving a nation that funds Terroist organisations, funds the building of mosques over western Europe so they can send Imams over to spread poison to already brainwashed people. Blair should never have got involvec over there and Cameron carrying it on. Where i think we wont agree on is that i also think that the islamic culture and our will never mix and get along, we are poles apart. The only way will be reforming Islam so it can be questioned. You cant educate a closed society.

And this was barely 100 years ago. Plus HIV/AIDS. Well worth reading up on the origins of that if you have a spare hour. An epidemic waiting to happen which the industrialisation and opening up of the Congo by the Belgians triggered. Fascinating stuff.
