In a close season where we have lost Whelan, Walters and unfortunately Arnie- stalwarts and talent we need to keep Ryan without hesitation. The club needs a change, but too much change will be damaging. He knows the club inside out and that's invaluable regardless of whether he is the same player as five years ago. Fletcher is a strong character we all know that and goes some way to replacing the leadership qualities of Whelan and Jon but Ryan is part of our fabric like Gerrard at Liverpool and Terry and Chelsea. The time will come to move on as the two just mentioned have but it's not yet. Give him a contract. He's one of us and we must not forget that. Too much change to soon will destabilise the ship that's in need of stabilising. THIS.

After yesterday's showing I guess those who want us to get rid of Ryan must have got second thoughts! Sign him up for at least another 3 years is my opinion here! He will also this season be one of our most important players! Good to see you back to usual standards Ryan!

There is now an apparent possibility that Ryan might sign for Trabzonspor in Turkey, as one of his mates has a big bet on how many clubs using Claret And Blue Kit Stoke will sell players to this year.

Or Crystal Palace, who wear a variation on the traditional Claret and Blue!

I word with a Lad who is good mates with Ryan. Apparently he's happy at Stoke and is eager to re-sign.

I wold hope that Ryan is relishing the opportunity to play in a stronger defence this season, alongside Zouma and Bruno. (and indeed with Butland in goal - please, please keep him here)
I will be extremely disappointed and indeed concerned if this happens
Is there unrest behind the scenes at the moment?
If Liverpool can play hard to get re Couthino, then we should do the same with Ryan if the rumours are more than speculation

My guess is that this is just The Sun filling in little corners of their paper with old rumours. The only concern is how specific it is over the £10Million. It would be a suicide move for Hughes with the fans if he did accept the bid without Shawcross putting in a transfer request

Hmm all very strange with what's going on with Ryan anyway, I don't see the point in selling him unless we're going to get a direct 1st team replacement along with Bruno, not worth letting him go otherwise.

If it's about money on any prospective new deal, he wouldn't get more at Burnley, would he?

If a bit has been submitted and it's a big if then it's Hughes' job to manage the player and ensure he remains focussed then 1 of 2 things will happen. Bid will be accepted and Hughes will be notified Or Ryan will take the decision into his own hands and request a transfer.

I suppose it depends what's on offer here and if what's reported is true the offer is currently nothing. So in that respect it's the Burnley offer or a Bosman next year. Hard to believe that scenario though.

You don't think the Hughes has the final say on whether his captain and longest serving player gets sold? Wouldn't have thought so in this sort of situation it would most likely be a decision between the player and the CEO with a sounding taken from the manager. If Ryan wants either more money or a longer contract than the club are willing to offer and there was £10M on the table for a soon to be 30 year old with only 12 months left on his contract they'd accept the bid just as they did with other players N'Zonzi, Bego.

Its an odd state of affairs, Dyche is almost targetting us perhaps - useful assets, cheap plus added bonus weakens a side at a similar level in the league Alternatively something is going on behind closed doors - Hughes perhaps kept his job by convincing Scholes etc that the shit on offer last year was caused by a clique in the club (Walters leaving, Whelan leaving and procrastinating about Ryans new contract makes that a far from impossible scenario)
Its most like a crock of shit by a shite journo of course
