I think it comes from watching him play. He refuses to lead the line, shies away from battles with centre halves and just generally doesn't play the position. Football is something that needs to be judged with the eyes focused on the pitch not looking at records and stats on paper or the internet. He doesn't! He was brilliant away at Swansea and Watford. Scored a beast of a header at Bournemouth too. He moves around looking for the ball and making runs. That's what takes him out wide and makes people think he's 'wandering.' He gets himself in the game by moving wide, dropping short and constantly making himself avaliable, completely the opposite of what Berahino does which is why he's so hapless. Gets assists too by moving around, away at Everton, West Brom and home to Norwich too. In our team (unless you're Crouch) then standing around in the middle of the pitch being constantly marked will render you as useless as Berahino. He'll score plenty at Newcastle if he's given a run meanwhile we'll be relegated persisting with our current options. I guess thats what you want? Usually, CFs "wander" around by dropping back into midfield or moving out wide when they get frustrated about not getting the service in the box.

Wind back 12 months and we were all saying that we'll never get anywhere near our outlay on him. A season in Spain and 4 goals in friendlies and he's the next Alan Shearer. He's a talented player but I think a few fans have forgotten his shortfalls plus we done know what's going on behind the scenes. He may want to leave, play for a Benitez or whatever. I wish him good luck and hopefully with add ons we get our money back on him.

I bet most of the trembling thundertwats moaning about him not playing are the same complete weapons moaning that we'd wasted money on him last year. Agendas hey? No, this thudertwat was fuming when he was pissed off out on loan last season leaving a stable of donkey forwards behind.

I'll bow to your supperior knowledge. Two totally different types of player so "choice" is irrelevant I'm on Bass by the way but thanks for noting Regardless if they are different players, i asked what you preferred. Maybe its not clear enough for you. I'll give you an example Pizza or Ice cream? What do you prefer? Yes there totally different as one is a desert. Berahino or Joselu? Joselu 😎

I don't care who's coming in on loan, the people involved in this want fucking, and seriously fucking if we get rid of Joselu. Treated abysmally by this club.

So we are going with Berahino or Crouch up top all season then?
Is Hughes trying to get the sack on purpose?

Dunno if you've been following Davesviews (or if you think he's a time-wasting clown ) , but he's certainly hinted there'll be a "tall, aggressive target man" type likely to arrive for a club record this week. And the likes of Janssen from Spurs are getting a mention.

I don't see why we'd sell him for that little, when he's a perfect rotation striker. There must be another striker deal close if we are going to get rid surely?

We know transfer can go tits up so that is playing with fire. Keep Newcastle waiting

Got our money back on him then. If we recoup 12-13m for Imbula, Hughes will have a pretty healthy record in terms of fees paid and money recouped and Imbula won't be the total disaster of a signing he would have been had we needed to get shut of him for practically nothing.

The day before the Bolton game, I thought we had a 0% chance of making a profit on Joselu, and assumed he'd be back on loan to a bottom-half La Liga team with us subsidising his wages again. So I'm not too despondent at all about him going, although I can see his qualities. And I would have taken £10m for Imbula too in May! I think we've dropped a bit lucky on finding the one Spanish Prem manager who might have fancied Joselu and a minted French club with funds for Imbula

Not really got our money back, due to the escalating prices,to replace we would have to pay twice what we paid for him.

To allow him to leave for 5-6milion to another prem club is just disgraceful he's the only one who looks capable of hitting the back of the net.

He's certainly had a succession of major howlers. But, by luck or judgement, I don't think he's done a terrible job at wiping up his own mess this summer so far. He can't afford to get it wrong this summer, but the level of squad churn is going to be pretty huge, so it's going to be fascinating to see how it unfolds

I would have thought he might have to try Jesé and Joselu in the team together. I presume they know each other from their time at Real Madrid together (2011-2012).

Agree with Franklin - if he goes to Newcastle, it is guaranteed that he'll score against us. The way he reacted to his own rebound off the post against St. Pauli was a thing of beauty. Berahino, on the other hand . . . it just defies belief.

He looked our only striker likely to score goals in pre-season so to get rid without giving him a chance seems a little odd. I guess Hughes already had his mind made up on him from past mediocre performances in the league.
Jese is not a direct replacement and we definitely need another striker now, one with the game to play up front alone, which Saido looks like he does not possess.
