Just back and a few things are plain to see... Johnson is not a wing back, but Diouf just might be. Pieters is not a wing back, we need one ( perhaps Muni? ) Berahino lacks confidence. Joselu looked sharp Not convicted by Sohbi on today's display. I am willing to be proved wrong. Zouma looked the part and got 90 minutes Agree with that. Would also add that Fletcher played well, Allen was useful, and Shaq deserved two goals.

Whats wrong with both Josh and Bera in the team, or one plays and one on the bench? Bera had to come off to but Bojan on. Because Bojan and shaq are not the biggest lads and a trio of Bera Bojan and Shaqiri doesn't have enough height and enough muscle to mix things up. Josh did well and if he would actually get in the box and get on the end of things more often then he would be handy.

What does of his head mean? I don't get the message I refer you to my previous message he isn't good enough Did you see the game today? Or are you going off the terrible radio commentary? Plus, have you got anything positive to say regarding the game? Because, for some strange reason, you always grumble but never praise.

Joselu has given the team shape and scored twice. Diouf pace and energy and Bojan invention . All three should start the next game . Shaq our class act today. Zouma and Fletcher have been very useful as well.

All you had to do was go on soccerbase and see you were spouting shite. I don't need Soccerbase to validate what I saw with my own eyes. But it's good to know that's your source of knowledge. My own eyes saw our most creative player for the last 2 seasons and possibly our best player. You saw a one season wonder.....you may have glaucoma?

Just back now, really pleased with what we saw today for the most part, much better than Tuesday. Played some decent stuff in the first half and we were unfortunate to go in behind, it was a moment of brilliance from Le Fondre for their goal to be fair, from our angle it's hard to say whether Butland could've done better or not. Two well worked goals by ourselves, Joselu in the right place at the right time to tuck them away.
I think there's a lot of potential with the three at the back, Shawcross looked much more comfortable with two centre backs alongside him and Zouma looked solid playing on the right hand side of the three. Cameron filled in on the left hand side of the three today but hopefully we can add BMI to that position and then we'll be even stronger. The wing backs are the problem, they're in the team to provide the width and unfortunately Pieters' crossing left a lot to be desired again and Johnson seemed reluctant to get forward and provide the width we needed. Diouf made a big difference in that role in the time he was on the field, stretched their defence more with his pace and played a part in one of Joselu's goals. Muniesa could potentially play in the left wing back role I think but I'm hoping we can add a right wing back to the squad to compete for a starting place.
Fletcher looked efficient in midfield, kept possession ticking over nicely and did some good defensive work in the middle, everything we expected from him really.
Shaqiri was the best player on the pitch again for me, his corners let him down on occasions but his overall performance was excellent, it really looks as if he's determined to step up to the mark and take responsibility now Arnie has gone. Berahino did all the right things again, he's looking stronger and sharper, he just needs to start adding goals to his game with more regularity now. Joselu made a positive impact when he came on, if he could add a greater physical presence to his game I think he could be a real asset for us.
Overall a pleasing display, onto Germany now where we can hopefully continue to build on today's good work.

Add BMI and 2 really good fullbacks and we'd have a really solid team and that's the frustration as Hughes doesn't look like addressing the fullback/wingback area. 3 at the back certainly looks like the way to go to get the best out of Shaqiri and potentially Bojan.

That first goal is lovely!
It sounds like some problems squad wise have been created today. Which is good.
Edit- both goals are lovely!

Perhaps Delph as left wing back is the missing piece. Diouf looks a good option as right WB. Shaq played well but thought Bojan was brilliant when he came on. Felt like the old Bojan.

I'm still struggling to reconcile with the idea that we can have a full back who can't cross. Why can't someone just basically make that point to Hughes after a game one time.

Are people seriously writing off Ramadan in this thread?!? Fuck me. From the small amount of competitive game time we saw last season there's every indication that, with the right coaching and attitude, this kid could well find himself at one of the top clubs in Europe in a few years time.

I'd only add that I thought Bojan seems to be getting back to something like decent form after a patchy few pre season games. He looked quick off the mark today - he'll never win a 50 metre race but, from a standing start, he was getting away from his man with ease today - much sharper than he's looked in some games since his injury.

I was at the game today and I am not writing Ramadan off. But in the car on the way home the three of us agreed that Ramadan looked by far the poorest of all the 5 attacking players we used in the front 3 positions today. He looked a shadow of the player we saw at times last season. Hopefully it is a temporary loss of form and/or fitness but we should not kid ourselves - he is a weak link at the moment. To be fair, like all the front 3, he was doing what he was asked to do and was mobile and popped up across the width of the pitch but what he did when he had the ball was not impressive. Let's hope he gets his mojo back sooner rather than later.

Changes made a difference . Diouf can be a good right back for us We really need a wing back on the left Shaq great and Joselu and Bojan did well no place for Berahino or Johnson or Ramadan in starting 11 on evidence of today Just said on the radio Joselu won't start against Everton. If Crouch made that impact he'd be straight in. who said it?

Hopefully it's nothing but a blip rather than an indication of his true level.

From the small amount of competitive game time we saw last season there's every indication that, with the right coaching and attitude, this kid could well find himself at one of the top clubs in Europe in a few years time. One person. The same person who labelled him the Egyptian Brek Shea before he'd kicked a ball for us and the same person who apparently now thinks his performance in a friendly is more indicative of his ability than the time he destroyed Middlesbrough's right-back in a Premier League game. He made a fool of himself with his first comment and, given the choice between keeping quiet and hoping people would forget or continuing to post shit, he elected to try and save face by sticking his head in a blender.
