Too little too late often often used as a descriptor of the French monarchy reforms before the revolution will now become Hughes epitaph at stoke city . The form of the last 6 months , The blind and stupid pursuit of berahino , the unbelievable sale of 4 players of strong physical presence and character as well as goals and assists , without replacements the complete incompetence of our off field set up mean theirs is no chance now this window can be turned around and therefore our season . The scatter gun approach to targets indicates no plan and the failure to get deals done indicates a level of incompetence and parsimony totally at odds with our competition set . Right now barring a miracle he and we are set tor a truly horrendous season the only difference being ours will go on until may and his will end in October / November . Sadly the real culprits will not be addressed as the manger who has made mistakes but they allDo takes rhe fall for a commercial function beyond redemption in every aspect of our off field performance Utter knickerwetting piss flapping yellow bellied surrender monkeying bellenderous gobbledegook. Come on, don't sit on the fence, tell us how you really feel! 😊

This is definitely looking like a do or die season as far as Hughes is concerned.
Selling a lot of the "safety blanket" players certainly means we're in for a roller coaster ride - I for one am excited!
On a side note, isn't football odd? I was born in Stoke and lived there for three months before moving away. I'm a fan of a team I have rarely seen live that plays in a place I rarely visit, consisting of a bunch of players I have never met, who in the main have no other connection at all to Stoke, let alone England. But it really matters to me how Stoke do. A lot. It just does. Odd it might be, but it is also brilliant! Agreed as far as Hughes is concerned, this is probably his make or break year. I am not too concerned we will manage to put enough together to survive but I do think we may be in for some very poor results and performances on occasion. Side note, at least you have some connection to Stoke, I became a fan because I love football and found a team to follow that fit my liking (no glory hunting crap for me). Now I plan my weekend mornings around match times and spend hours checking transfer rumors and reading all the random crap spilled on the Oatcake! I at least have managed to get to a game at the Brit (as it was 3 years ago) and have a weekend walk around the area. Funny old game it is.

I can't believe that he and others at stoke fail to grasp that the premier league is rigged and Chelsea man utd etc get all the best established players.
My opinion is that he and mark bowen have no choice but to get in the best young players from egypt germany u21 etc that we can get hold of. Back them up with half a dozen shawcross Fletcher types and go for it.
The fans will prefer watching a faster younger team. And if their luck is in they will make big money on a butland or a ramadan.
Come on hughes! Get real! Get some of the best young players to the bet365 and get on with it!

these problems have been obvious for well over a year but little is being done. The team is way short on power and pace too The problem being Hughes has spent money trying to fix these problems but so far he seems to have failed , the players we now need to jettison are the players on long term deals and high wages . Getting rid of the old war horses for modest fees was the easy bit . The main worry for me is his failure to put together an effective defence, midfield or forward line Mine too. Upto now this knicker wetter can't see Hughes having any answers .....again.

Patience is needed. We have to wait for player A,B,C etc realise they're not going to Chelsea etc... might the Ox be a case in point? I'm as desperate as anyone for a signing that will make me wet myself. That said I hope the penny drops with our target(s) pronto.

Have that look Aston villa a few years ago, the squad was ageing and they sold their best, young, miller, Delph and replaced them with young inexperienced players such as kieran Clark and Jack grealish. Youth needs to be integrated and unfortunately because we were poor last season hughesy didn't do it enough, granted ngoy got a few games but if we had been stronger last year we could have blooded Edwards and verlinden in, now it's a case of well let's hope they hit the ground running

FFS I wish people would get over themselves. The anxiety on here is fucking treacherous. Still pre-season!
Imagine if we lose to Everton! FFS!
Fact: premier league........still!

Looking at the first 6 weeks of our fixtures I reckon we would be better off with the lads we let go. i mean who is replacing them????? Somebody must have a plan somewhere but it is not a seat selling fucking plan for sure.

Why am I not surprised by this latest thread? God knows what it will be like after 6 games when we will be in the bottom half given our run of fixtures. I am going to stay positive we have a decent spine butland- zouma-fletcher-berahinio plus the talents of shaq-sobhi Plus the fact we are still looking to bring players in.so go ahead doom merchants place all of your cash on us to go down.I in the meantime will look forward to being at the bet365 to cheer my team on.somat some of you lot have never done. Don't you just love the must stay positive posts. Fact is we had a promotion followed by a period of progression and now it feels like we've retreated to the air raid shelter. the old guard that served us so well have gone. What have we got now?

Many fans are rightly concerned re the plight of the club. You'd have to be in cloud cuckoo land not to be. We enter our 10th season in the Premier League, a great place it is too in spite of the mega inflated transfers and salaries, and have spent the square root of zero. Two weeks and counting til start of the season. 6 games in, this board will be in meltdown if the club is still in this situation. I still hope the club pull Oxlade Chamberlain off or similar. The reality is Percy et al say it's not even a starter! Come on Stoke and show some ambition!

The club cannot afford to gamble on a make or break year .If break comes out on top it breaks the club not just Hughes.A blow which we may well never recover from. For a long time.

Last season stoke fans wanted to clear out the 'old guard' so when times got tough Hughes has no opportunity to rely on them and has to perfect plan A. Walters, Whelan, Bards, Given. Half the plan is complete, with the exception of Johnson getting a new contract i think fans should be happy with the summer clear out and the fees received. With over a month to go before the transfer window shuts it would be fairly stupid to throw your toys out of the pram just yet. If you want to sign good players, sometimes you have to wait until nearer deadline day, its not like buying a pint of milk. I hope you're right. However, the ideal way to build a strong squad is sign all the players you need first and sell those surplus to requirements second. We are doing things the other way around, which is very, very risky because if we miss out on our targets we'll have no back-up.

Last season was his make or break year and he came up well short: poor start, even worse ending, and knocked out of both cups at the first attempt. He should have been fired in March.
