I'll look forward to hopelessly chasing after him for a month before eventually signing Ashley Young on loan on deadline day.

Where would he play though? Sobhi & Shaqiri are nailed on first teamers. We can't rely on Sobhi, Shaqiri and Bojan to play 38 games in the season and to be bang in form in all of those games.

Started less than half their league games. That's presumably why he wants to leave. More down to injuries though? If he was to sign then that would be my only worry with him.

Could he be a regular at any top 7 club though? He already is Premier League 16/17 = 16 starts 15/16 = 9 starts 14/15 = 17 starts Some of that time has been spent injured aswell, but I wouldn't say he's a guaranteed starter by any means. Interesting that a lot of these 'squad' players will want more game time with the WC being next year. If they're going to want a move you would imagine now is the time, be it permanently or on loan.

There's a certain romance to this story that makes it possible. Mark will have sat his son down and told him all about what it's like to play for the Mighty Potters.....

probably is pie in the sky however if there is any chance we should pursue it what frustrates me is we had two opportunities to sign him, when he was a kid (before he signed his 1st pro contract) & again under TP but TP wouldn't spend on a kiddie. Yes, the fact that his dad played for us might not mean a lot to him but it would mean a lot to many Stokies. As others have said, his problem with a move to a top 6 side is that he might be no more guaranteed a start than he is at Arsenal. So, if he were to move to a mid table side the connection of his father to the club might sway things in our favour. If he was played on the right then it gives the option to move Shaqiri into the number 10 position which, for me, is clearly his best position. Probably nothing will come of it, but I'd be delighted if it were to happen. Anyone know what his wages are at Arsenal? They are not the best payers in the league so we might be able to match his current wages plus a decent signing on fee.

Would be perfect in centre mid imo, wasn't one of the recent rumours from the 'ITK' that we'd smash our transfer record for a midfielder? Not that any of this matters since its come from an SLP and The S*n collaboration.

With Bojan's inconsistency and Shaqiri's injury record I think there could be room. I'd rather somebody to replace Arnie who could do a job in those three positions rather than an out and out left winger like Arnie (funny how West Ham fans think they have signed someone who can play across the front 3).

Started less than half their league games. That's presumably why he wants to leave. More down to injuries though? If he was to sign then that would be my only worry with him. Last season he made the matchday squad 33 times, was injured for 3 and didn't make the squad for the other 2. He started 16 times, came off the bench 13 times and was an unused sub 4 times. So when he was fit, he started half and was on the bench for half. Seems like the kind of player they use to cover injuries, suspensions, and a bit of squad rotation when they're in Europe. His stats are almost the same for the CL, started half the games for which he was available.

MONEY MONEY MONEY.
Whats he on at Arsenal? We cant compete with Liverppol, Chelsea, Arsenal on wages EVEN if we can afford the transfer fee.
I can see he would be interested in joining us for a guaranteed starting place after his Arsenal frustration. But the numbers just wont add up

Just so we can watch the Arsenal 'fans' go into meltdown about how Oxlade Chamberlain has gone to play for the big rugby playing bullies.
And how fucking comical would it be to see him score against Arsenal in the first game at the Brit on the 19th? Hahahaha
C'MON STOKE GET THIS DEAL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
