"With a scintillating debut against Liverpool, and he quickly forged a telepathic relationship with Jimmy Greenhoff" Love it.

What Alan Hudson wants is our money Nothing wrong with 'wanting' our money. Up to individuals whether or not he gets it.

Got the original, have to say it was one of the worst written autobiographies I've ever read. In desperate need of a decent editor or indeed writer, every chapter just rambled off on tangents and was just unreadable in places.
Loved the player, certainly did not love the book. There is a good story in there, just not in this book alas

I suppose one man's Steinbeck can be another man's Archer.

Got to agree with Macko. Needed a decent editor to give it some form. Think Robson Books must have just printed it as it came to them, without reading it.

I think that the book was written to give Hudson some quick and much needed cash. Speed was a major factor.

Has the Saracens Yed closed? Might be wrong but has it not been a steak restaurant for a few years now? No idea mate. I do know that the pubs in Meir were often places of entertainment other than for having a pint or two. You could virtually guarantee a fight or two every night, in a lot of the pubs. The Tiger Moth was a pugilist's heaven, it's now a shop. I can't remember the name of the pub, but it was down Leason Rd, towards the square and off to the left - I was sitting there having a quiet pint with a mate and a fucking brick came flying through the window - just missed my right ear! The pub on the Broadway, was it the Kings? Now an NHS place. That pub was amazing - it had it's own bowling green. I lived in Leason Road for a couple of years, many years ago. Also in Meir Heath in 1964, on Sandon Road. I was a choir boy in St Francis church - fucking hell, where did the years go? I now have a one year old grand daughter living not too far from where I went to school - Grange School. That's apart from my 19 year old grandson who still hasn't bought me a friggin pint! Another grand daughter living in Wellingborough. I had a year or two on Bentilee. Those council estates were a bit rough and tough, but looking back, full of genuine people, salt of the earth types. Mostly miners and potters. They might fight each other from time to time, but when the shit hit the fan, they stuck together. Drugs seem to have changed everything now.

A while ago I managed to get my grandad a copy of this masterpiece of modern lit, I even managed to get it signed. On a few occasions since I've met huddy around stoke (almost always pissed) and can safely say he's a twat. He's not that far removed from gazza, proper fuck nugget.

You mean the Thorley on Brookwood Drive, yep gone, Kings Arms is replaced by a Health Centre and Saracens is a Steak House. Waterhead is also gone and Station is derelict awaiting demolition.

For anyone who saw him play he will remain a Stoke legend He's had his demons and pulled through a very serious accident that changed his life. I for one wish him well.

Sat next to Huddy in the Waddo Suite a few years back, and having watched him when he was here in the 70's I was in in awe of the man and his talent, unfortunately he is is a wreck, for whatever reasons. I bought his book just to say thanks for educating me in top dollar football skills. Ta Huddy

I've been out and about with Huddy on many occasions and I'm happy to call him a friend. Many or dare I say most players of the 70's were big drinkers and still are today. Half of the 72 league cup winning side played most matches hung over or still pissed including our beloved manager Waldo. Before you slag the bloke off ask yourself this can you name one of today's so called top players that will mix with and chat the supporters from a ex team I can't think of any.
