West Bromwich Albion announce the signing of 26-year-old Egypt international defender Ahmed Hegazi on a season-long loan from Egyptian side Al Ahly. "With it being a loan and, if he does well, we've already agreed a final deal. It's really, really good for us," said Baggies boss Tony Pulis.

I said they'd get relegated for the past 2 seasons, doubt it with Tone in charge.

Don't understand the need for such a snobby reaction? Loans with options to buy are a great way to take the risk out of "gambling" on a left-field bargain signing.

African Cup of Nations[edit] Hegazy was a regular in the back four playing without missing a single minute and displaying a solid performance as the Egyptians went all the way to the final. His performance earned him an inclusion in the Team of the Tournament XI[
Sounds a decent player probably not cost 8m either

Seems a bit foolish to judge without seeing the player in the Premier League. Sobhi ain't done too bad for himself so they must produce some decent players. If he doesn't work out and they don't use the option they have plenty of decent centre backs as well.
They don't need to spend money on their defence so it makes sense for them to try something like this.

He's only 26.
Just a kiddie. He'll be put out at full back to learn his trade a bit first

6 feet 5 inches.
I can picture Pulis selecting his targets by going on the player database, filtering for defenders, and then sorting results by height.

Low cost gamble that may pay huge dividends. What's the problem? Not like Pulis can't put a defence together is it?
