From the "clip" that I saw on the BAFTA award the next Dr Who is both Black and Gay. He is also loud and flamboyant, which I dislike. This is not prejudice but why should I have to accept all the stuff about "Black lives Matter" and have politically correct blackness shoved down my throat at every turn.
I saw most of the Doctor Who stories from the first 40 years or so, including the very first episode, and I much preferred it the way it was, with various cracking female "assistants"!

Not sure what the fuss is over a kid's TV show
I am ambivalent as it has no impact on me in anyway, shape or form

Basically it says the BBC hope this casting will have a huge relevance with young people while recognising older viewers will find less so. Which seems fair enough.

But it's not the BBC who have chosen him Are you sure? I was just trying to find out who was responsible for his casting, but couldn’t find anything. The fact that an independent production company is making the programme doesn’t necessarily mean they are responsible for casting the Dr. It’s quite possible the IP owner would do that. Which got me thinking about who owns the IP for Dr Who. Not just for the Dr him/herself but for things like the Tardis, sonic screwdriver and characters like Daleks, Cybermen. I couldn’t find any answers on Google to that question. Anyway, that’s a bit of an aside. The bottom line is Dr Who is clearly targeting young people with the new Dr which is fine. Us old folks need to accept that and enjoy the ride.

Never mind this, there's talk of James Corden replacing Lineker on MOTD!

Moronic comments, you've never seen the lad act and you're just making assumptions based on his ethnicity and sexuality. What you're essentially saying is that every Doctor Who actor has to be a white, middle-aged bloke.

I'd sooner he was replaced by Micah Richards or Dion Dublin- both have played the game, speak well and know what they're talking about. Add into the mix that it'd be a nice bit of irony if old and white Lineker (the ultimate SJW) was replaced by a black guy, which would be the cherry on the cake 😀

Surely there must be a few surviving Doctors from period dramas who could have auditioned for the part. Dr Kildare, Dr Finlay. . . . . .

I don't care whether he's black or gay. He's a brilliant young talent and deserves the role. This Dr Who role reminds me of how people stereotype God as being white, male, wise, and wonderful when in fact -if he/she/they/them exist - he/she/they/them could possibly be yellow, female, an idiot, and a mad twat to boot.
OS.

OS. I think Ncuti isn't gay, he just convinced everyone he is because he's so convincing as Eric Effiong in Sex Ed. Shows what a brilliant actor he can be. Or you just might think that most actor types come across as gay anyway

Noel Fielding would be a great Doctor. Despite The Mighty Boosh being an utter pile of crap he has the look and personality. Great in the IT Crowd also

Micha Richards speaks well? I have heard it all, politically correct appointment of a bloke who would struggle in Mcdonalds to take orders. He must be pleased he could kick a ball half decently. That is nothing to do with his colour either. Utter dross

bit of a traditionalist but being bought up on the original series I always thought the first 4 were the best doctors as they were pictured as older (40+) and wiser timelords who were father / grandfather figures to there companions. I never thought of the doctors as being youngsters which is why i’ve never given the new series a lot of time. I guess that makes me ageist. For me 2 perfect doctors Brian Blessed and Morgan Freeman.

I think Hugh Laurie, if he played it as Dr House, would be a good doctor.

It's the production company Bad Wolf That’s why there was no big BBC announcement, Bad wolf make the programmes then sell them to bbc and around the world. I believe BBC still own the copyrights to lots of the villains so would imagine they sell it to the BBC at a very reduced rate.
