What's the worst you have ever had it? What do u think works to help it until you get in your dentist.
Mine had to be last night awake at every hour awful pain. Seen my dentist today so sorted for now but gotta have it out eventually.
Just wanted a break last night tho non stop discomfort.

I was working away in Cheltenham.in the boozer after work tucking into a steak and then wham,a fucking great shock up my jaw.it went off after about 20 mins (probably something do with bollocking ale down me),but 3 o'clock in the morning I woke up in absolute fucking agony.my hole body was shaking. That was it for the night and went work on a sewage plant in the freezing cold pissing down with rain first thing. I lasted an hour untill I got some rusty old pliers out the van and tried rip the cunt out but even touching my tooth with the metal made it even worse. It eventually went off later in the afternoon. Went the dentist when I got back and there was nowt wrong with the tooth.told her to Rip the bastard out anyway. I took the tooth home and smashed it to bits with a hammer. After that I never worked away without a bottle of woods 100 rum in my bag.Never felt pain like it before or since.

I've always found brandy to be an excellent pain reliever.

I had a broken tooth that I did nothing about, it soon developed into a full blown abscess, that made me look like I'd been punched in the face. After getting an emergency dentist appointment ( it was a bit tender by this point), the dentist informed me that I couldn't have an anaesthetic as it was too swollen. He then used a rotary blade to cut into my tooth, then drilled into my roots to drain the abscess (all without anaesthetic). The smell of the abscess being drained smelled like a sewer, so embarrassment compounded the unbelievable pain. All I can say is Dustin Hoffin in Marathon Man, I've shit you

In amsterdam watching they might be giants play live. My wisdom teeth were playing up and all the huge dutch people were stamping on the ground to birdhouse in your soul. And no amount of drugs helped.

Clove Oil. Put it on a cotton bud and dab it on your tooth. Try to avoid getting any on your tongue. It's about £2 a bottle, maybe £4 for stronger stuff. Bottle is only a tiny one. Easy to carry in your pocket. It will not stop the excruciatingly painful stuff but will numb you enough to be bearable until you can get to a dentist. Effect wears off? Bang a few more drops on. I had severe toothache last year and this helped. Ordered 4 different types online and kept them in various places...two houses, car, travel bag. You never know when you might need it.

I once had a broken tooth. Like a molar, peanut shaped thinner in the middle where it had cracked across.
It stunk like hell. Like, bad. My wife poked at it and I almost passed out. She said it was "moving". I'm like, what the fuck is going on.
So I go to the dentist at Westbury Park and there's some new Polish bint in there who, I'm not exaggerating, can barely speak English. She prods at it. I almost pass out. She squeezes it. She tells me in broken English that "the green and yellow puss, he squeeze out".
I pass out.
I wake up and she's injected the horror with something.
I get sent home, pass out again, go back the next day and the same bint wrestled with it using medieval hammers, pliers and other devices.
I had to take two days off work to recover and the hole bled like a pig.

Try to sleep propped up on pillows . When you lie fully flat your blood pressure increases and increases the pain

Whilst buying my last two houses, I've ended up having two root-canal fillings. Apparently it's a stress thing. I'm not moving again!

I had tootache for a few days and went to the dentist, he told me there was nothing wrong with my teeth and to see the doctor; I went to the doctors a couple of days later and she told me there was nothing wrong and to see the dentist, I got back into the dentist and he looked again, nothing wrong with my teeth, double checked the x-rays from last time and then said 'oh yes, i see it now you have a hole in your root in a wisdom tooth, !!!!
2 weeks later I ran a marathon, so glad it got sorted, but that dentist was sent back to Greece apparently.

Raw ginger works, sliced thin and put near the tooth, chew it a bit when the effect starts to wear off.

I was unlucky enough to experience a failed root canal filling in my upper right lateral incisor (the tooth next to my front teeth).
An abscess formed in my jaw which had to be drained and the cavity filled in a procedure called apicoectomy under general anaesthetic.
I promise you all, you don't want one of these. 15yrs later and I still have no feeling in my right nostril and septum due to the nerve damage.
Every time I go to the bastard dentist I seem to need another crown. I'll look like bloody Richard Kiel (Jaws) in 5yrs time... :-)

Salt water also proved to be effective. These are all short term measures lasting for an hour or so. The best remedy if you cannot get to a Dentist is some kind of social activity to take your mind off the pain.

Second the use of clove oil. Suffered tooth ache myself this year, found high doses of Ibuprofen helped together with paracetamol. You can use paracetamol and Ibuprofen together IN MODERATION but DON'T mix paracetamol and co codamol. All my fillings, crowns and receding gums are coming home to roost.

Due to have one out soon. Caught a cough n cold this weekend and it's set it off not as bad as last time. However you know it's there it's like a dull ache.
Anyone else got any sure fire cures for it. People have actually advised me against Clove oil. They say be very careful with it.

Colombian marching powder, rubbed very liberally on the gums. Short term fix, but effective.
