Has anyone got any idea at what altitude the stadium was at for tonight's game. If it was 1000 metres or above then N'Goy's performance was even more impressive - he looked a yard faster than any other player on the pitch on either team. 1,177 m That's slightly higher than Calgary (1,045m) and it takes some getting used to. Also about 5 times the altitude of Stoke. If he's giving the locals the run around it'll be interesting to see what he can do back at the Bet 365. I'd get him and Diouf racing each other over 20 & 40 yards every day

Stoke City + was an absolute joke tonight. Ended up watching it on a youtube feed that was probably streamed by a 15 year old kid on his laptop. Just goes to prove what an amateur setup we are on and off the pitch. I started off on YouTube but switched to the official site after about 10 minutes and had a perfect stream for the whole match. Not bad for their first streaming attempt - I am encouraged. no patience on and off the stream, another excuse to piss ye pants in public.

I was really hoping Berahino would score a couple against "weaker" opposition. An OG against such opposition seems to suggest we'll struggle for goals again this season. Did we create many chances tonight and not take them? Or it suggests we played with massive mix of players in the first friendly of the season and we can gain pretty much next to nothing from it performance wise, certain players looked sharper than expected but thats pretty much all we can take from it.

We did fine although Berahino still looks miles off the pace.
The youngsters were excellent.
Bardsley looked in a lot of pain, hope he is ok, and Arnie looked like he really didn't give a shit before he fell over. Talk about timing.......

Not seen the highlights, if any exist, but was Bera really that far off the pace? He missed a good chance but it'll come, I'm sure it will

Play more of those through balls and he'll score. No point expecting him to hold a ball up he's not a target man.

Game wasn't particularly thrilling but, 1. Imbula i thought seemed to dominate the midfield in the second half, if he just kept playing like that he would be excellent for our team. 2. Wollscheid has to go, his passing was abissmal. 3. Prospects Edwards, verlinden, sweeney looked very promising. 4. Bojan, muniesa looked brilliant!. 5. Berahino looked a lot fitter regarding match sharpness, few more pre season games and I think he will be ready. FINALLY. Julien N'GOY!!! his pace, strength, passing were fantastic, if arnie does go I won't be too disappointed knowing Ramadan and n'goy are there to back that position up 👍

And I swear my wife walked into the room just as Wollscheid played one of his many pin point passes from the back and said "Why are you watching old videos of Beckenbaeur playing for Germany again?" It's true........

Perhaps that's Hughes thinking?

Perhaps that's Hughes thinking? Playing and training at altitude should certainly improve stamina. Works for athletes - no serious middle distance or long distance athlete would not train at altitude at some point during their season. Works even for an old fart like me! I live in the Lake District and go on at least 2 or 3 fell walks a week. After my annual skiing holiday, I usually do a walk over the mountain opposite my front door. Normally a circuit to the summit and back round the base of the fell takes me 2 hours 30 minutes or thereabouts - after my ski holiday it usually takes about 2 hours 15 minutes without really trying to put in any more effort than normal.
