He has made best use of the talents he has to carve out a very lucrative career as a PL footballer, what ever he lacked in the skill department he made up for in shovel fulls with his never say die application, he has been a fantastic signing one of Pulis's best and is rightly a club legend. Unfortunately he will not be replaced with a like for like die for the shirt player by Hughes, our squad is already massively unbalanced and the loss of Walters will unbalance it even more, what fecks me off is we extend Glen Johnsons contract but sell Walters l know which one I would have kept and it ain't half arsed Johnson. You embarrass yourself with every post. I don't see anything in that post that's embarrassing. Can you enlighten me please?

Has given us Stokies many great memories over the years and has represented that Stoke attitude of no matter what you are blessed with, never give up, show no respect to people who will put you down and work hard to get what you want. Top guy and go with a lot of gratitude from the Stoke tribe.

I don't post very often but do lurk quite frequently. I have to say that I'm deeply saddened by this move. When we watch some of the so called talented players lazing around the pitch, feigning injury, generally giving little or no effort, Super Jon's total commitment comes as a massive contrast. If only some of our top players had half the heart of Jon, they'd be wolrld beaters... but that's probably why they're playing for us and not one of the really top clubs. I will really mis him, he's been a fundamental part of what the football club is all about and I fear for the spirit of the team and the dressing room in general. I hope I'm wrong but I think this could be a long hard season. I share these sentiments and worry they could be very accurate

I know it was coming but I'm absolutely gutted. Same. I don't mind admitting it. Feels like an era ending. If we say goodbye to Whelan too I'll be in a bad way. Fuller. Lawrence. Sorro. Higgy. Faye. Walters. Ethers. Mama. Wilko. Fucking hate getting old.

A true stalwart of the team and a crucial slice of the new Stoke DNA. While we have to grow and evolve his boots will be hard to fill. Another I'd hope to see back at the club someday. I'd like to dismiss the unwise political commentary as the result of a lost wager with a certain square-headed Leicester player. He also got Roy Keane's dander up which deserves some kudos. Good luck SJW. We will miss your extra 10% and your wasp like irritation of world class defences.

Better than most of our forwards last season, Bojan and Berahino included.
Don't get me wrong, it's the right time to get rid but fuck me he was a decent footballer as well as having a great work ethic.
Those that think he just 'runs around a lot' are so side of the mark, in my opinion

Will never see any other player giving more than Super John does.
Time is right but still gutting to see him leave.

Well Jon, all the best lad. Enjoy the twilight of your career and treat us nicely on the times you play against us (or don't play). Although I will certainly applaud you home or away if you come across to the Stoke fans (but not if you score).
Certainly a key part of the team for a long time and generated some great mentals in your time.

Walters. Ethers. Mama. Wilko. Fucking hate getting old. Could be soon. Bruceys still interested apparently. Still it's gutting when players who would sweat blood for our club are let go over the likes of Johnson and Ireland. SJW was the embodiment of Stoke. He best encapsulated the 'us against the world' mentality we had, particularly under TP. I reckon he will be excellent at Burnley, he and the club ethos go hand in hand (ie. Never give up, run your bollocks off week in week out, were not the best technically but we will run you into submission).

Has there ever been a Walters thread where people do not end up getting so touchy? That applies for both sides of the argument of course. i'm sure everyone has their good and bad memories with Walters, we move on.

A true Stoke City hero and anyone who doesn't realise that hasn't got a clue. A sad day for me as my favourite player leaves the club.

Undoubtedly one of my favourite players to watch over the last 15 years. But age has caught up with him and it was time for him to go unfortunately. I don't a bad word to say about the man, and you would be hard pressed to find someone who does (provided they actually know football). Ran his socks off for the cause, played on no matter what, great in the dressing room by all accounts and he is better technically than most like to give him credit for.
I will certainly be paying far more interest in Burnley's results this season, and sincerely hope Jon does well. Thanks for some of the greatest memories I will ever have of this club and good luck.

Those that think he just 'runs around a lot' are so side of the mark, in my opinion I don't understand the flak he gets. In an era of badge kissing ponces he's a hundred percenter who gets stuck in. Sure, I have lambasted his first touch and even his inclusion on the team sheet at times, but I have also lost count of the times he's proved me wrong. How can people slate Imbula for lack of effort but not commend Walters for grit and determination? I've plenty of time for Jon Walters.

I'd say he's been my favourite player of the premier league era. Always giving 100%, looking like he was willing to die for the shirt, as a Stokie and a fan that's how I want players to be at our club and how I think I'd like to play too. He is a proper footballer from another era to me, not someone who makes sure his hair, wrist bands and tattoos look good before going out to play. He is the old adage that my dad used to say that's seems to have gone from modern day football, never show them you're hurt, he just gets up and gets on with the game. Also I think his ability is better than people give credit for too, you don't have this career by just being hardworking. In a footballing era that's dominated by YouTube players and style over substance hes given us some good memories and deserves his place in our modern day history as a very important player in our best era for a generation. It feels like the end of an era, it'll be interesting to see who replaces him.
