Woodman - the godson of England boss Gareth Southgate - wrote to kit-man Pat Frost thanking him and the rest of the England U20 support staff for the role they played in the Young Lions' triumph in South Korea.

"I'd like to thank you for the time, effort and hard work you and the rest of the staff put in to help us achieve our goal.

"To share winning the World Cup with you and this team is a great honour.

"Your quality of work, love for football and ability to light up a room Frosty is something that will stay with me for a long time"

There was half a chapter on him in Michael Calvin's latest book "No Hunger in Paradise" (all about youth football) and Woodman came across frighteningly mature and intelligent. Especially for someone so young in the game.
