I know that you may not like to hear this, but I can find you witnesses who will glady conform that after Bagh Ali came to Stoke-on-Trent as a child he DID actually used to watch Stoke City matches from the Boothen End. Maybe not a die-hard 100% every single game fan, but how many of those do we have any way? His father also fought for the British Army in the 2nd World War and was taken prisoner by the Japanese at Singapore! How does that work then Smudge seeing as his official biog says that he came to Stoke on Trent in the 1970's, in his 20's to work for Michelin? Okay, I got the age thing wrong, he wasn't a child. But he did used to go and watch Stoke from time to time. I know people who knew him at the time and he was quite a keen Stoke fan - probably caught the bug working at The Mich.

Bagh Ali seems like a good bloke to me. I think people should leave the poor bugger alone. He is after all just an ordinary bloke like any of us.
Mark Meredith on the other hand is a mercenary politician who is on mega bucks for do sweet fanny adams. He should be the one being berated not Bagh Ali who seems like an ordinary bloke who has rose through the ranks of the council and is an ordinary working bloke.

If I was the Mayor of Stoke I'd keep my gob shut until...
a) It looks like we're not going to get dicked every week and aren't going to do a Derby.
b) Our support proves that we can entertain the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc without embarrassing both the club and the area by turning the Brit and surrounding areas into a war zone.
Looking at some of the ideas it seems that Stoke's promotion will benefit the people by increased council taxes to pay for underpasses\transport improvements. Bet they're looking forward to that!
But, as the Lord Mayor describes Stoke as being 'beautiful' I'm sure he'll put his foot in it pretty quickly?

But, as the Lord Mayor describes Stoke as being 'beautiful' I'm sure he'll put his foot in it pretty quickly? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love the place, warts and all. That doesn't mean I don't hope it will continue to improve but my love for SoT emains undiminished, whatever its shortcomings.
